All dressed up for a recent art appreciation event in the River City wearing the stunning black & gold textured jacquard "Stamford Plaza" midi-length gown from Australian label Sacha Drake, a vintage gold velvet capelet with long front panels that a dear friend gifted me for my birthday last year, a pair of shiny black patent ankle boots from Wittner & a soft black velvet knot bag from the delightful Swinging Chicks Shop via online emporium Etsy. When it came to jewellery, I chose some special pieces from Beautiful Pangea, gifted to me by some dear friends - a vintage gold lampwork beaded necklace & bracelet - to complete the look & add some daytime shine.

Completely disavowing the notion that "blue & green should never be seen" with this stunning ensemble, worn to a recent ballet performance in the River City... prior to this recent delta-strain Covid outbreak we're unfortunately experiencing. I've styled up this amazing, ballet-inspired black taffeta flared midi dress with blue guipure lace bodice from Anthea Crawford with a sumptuous vintage green & blue shot silk Chinese jacket, a pair of black leather pointy-toe heels with elastic straps from Wittner to elongate my leg-line & a soft blue velvet roll-top clutch from Asos to carry all the essentials including the obligatory mask & hand sanitizer. When it came to jewellery, I kept it simple to let the dress & jacket shine, merely adding a funky vintage shell mosaic bangle & silver ring with blue shell (gifted to me by some dear friends) for that finishing touch of "bohemian luxe."

"Ambition & love wearing boxing gloves & singing hearts & flowers..."

As I was swanning around taking these photographs, I couldn't get that "Somewhere in my Heart" Aztec Camera new wave song (from 1987 no less!) out of my head... it's just so perfect for this dress... The soft pink, heart-quilted, satin empire-line bubble-cut smock dress with sweet little puff sleeves from whimsical British label Sister Jane just makes you feel so inordinately happy whenever you look at it - not least due to its strong princess vibes - particularly when mixed with a pair of vintage-inspired black matte & patent leather ankle boots with button detailing from Wittner, black 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty-warm & a handmade black guipure lace knot bag from a little boutique on Etsy. When it came to jewellery, I decided to add a funky, oversized white ceramic heart brooch from a local Brisbane maker that I picked up from the Queensland Art Gallery Store to really push the outfit over the top!
