Avid readers of this blog will already know about my latest obsession with garden centres or nurseries, particularly as I'm working on my own little backyard oasis replete with cottage flowers, fruit & vegetables in raised beds, a wrought iron swing & a selection of lawn ornaments. This trip to the Greenway Garden Centre in Oxley, however, was actually more about enjoying a family brunch in the sunshine of the Verdant Cafe & Restaurant (nothing better than a cooked breakfast on a cold morning) but I still managed to find a secluded spot to pose for some outfit photographs wearing some gorgeous new-season pieces as well as old favourites. The floral print of this neoprene number (with peplum detailing) from Anthea Crawford seemed fitting for the occasion, particularly when mixed with a cropped black knitted cardigan covered in faux pearls from "girly" Aussie label Review, shiny black patent & matte ankle boots with buttons (very "Anne of Green Gables" if you ask me) from Wittner, 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz & my much loved boxy suede handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection. Due to the rather OTT nature of the floral & pearl combination, jewellery was kept to a minimum - a single chunky vintage Victorian silver bracelet with heart locket & teeny tiny key from a wonderful little store called Kellie's Antiques in the Brisbane Arcade.

Sometimes, there's nothing more relaxing than surrounding yourself with greenery... particularly if there's also pretty flowers, sparkling water features, funky boutique wares & yummy brunch food on offer as well!

I'm posing up a storm inside the greenhouse of one of my favourite haunts, The Greenway Garden Centre, in a gorgeous "seaflower" printed neoprene wiggle dress from Anthea Crawford, black leather & suede waterfall jacket from Zara (my new one-stop-shop for awesome wintertime swag), shiny black patent ankle boots with matte leather flaps & a row of little buttons reminiscent of those worn by Anne of Green Gables in the 1985 mini series from Wittner, black nylon 40 denier tights from Razzamatazz & a burgundy vinyl crossbody bag with gold hardware from Forever New to carry a few little essentials while keeping my hands free to browse. Completing the look is a vintage mixed metal scarab beetle hinged bangle that once belonged to a dear friend, picked up at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in the very early 1990s.

Scroll down to see how the morning unfolded... & catch a glimpse of the look without the jacket, owing to the unpredictable nature of Queensland winters!

Finally posting all the pictures from a delightfully sunny Sunday spent exploring the Greenway Garden Centre, catching up a dear friend & filling up on delicious fresh fare at Verdant Cafe by the fountain. Easy breezy was the name of the game when it came to putting an outfit together - a black & cobalt blue stretch lace fit-to-flare dress with tulle underlay from Diana Ferrari, yellow & navy printed chiffon shirtdress from H&M (an absolute bargain at only $8) worn open as a duster to add colour & flair, comfortable black patent loafers with silver clips from Wittner worn with a boxy patent handbag from Novo & finally, matching kitschy gold & silver "bow" Karen Walker necklace & bracelet - a gift from a dear friend of mine who recently passed away.
