Exhibition

Finally posting all the pictures from an EPIC day at the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA) with my younger brother, Louis, exploring all that Queensland has to offer in terms of farming, fashion, food, fun & of course, frivolous purchases! For once, the Queensland weather cooperated & remained a balmy 24 degrees with a little cloud cover in the middle of the day before clearing to a brilliant afternoon under blue skies - unlike the veritable deluge that made my trip to the Ipswich Show so, ahem, memorable.

In a nutshell: great weather, great company, great layout (so happy they are now including the historical "Old Museum" complex as part of the festivities), great time. Such a shame that it only happens once a year... well, perhaps not so much for my bank balance, I suppose, although I did leave without a Showbag this year for the very first time EVER so if that doesn't show my commitment to fiscal independence, I don't know what else will!

Anyhoo, scroll down to see what we did, what we ate & of course, what I wore...

First walk around Sideshow Alley...

Poultry

Crowds

Posing in front of the Those Guys' American Food Truck (where I bought some lunch) in a gorgeous monochrome polka dot silk dress from Aussie brand Review, traditional-style white denim jacket from Just Jeans (do yourself a favour & buy one: they last for years & years & even if you are clumsy like me & spill something like blackcurrant juice on it, it comes up as good as new after a good soak in stain remover), shiny black patent flatform brogues from Nine West for a union of comfort & style, black vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Urban Originals (always best to remain "hands free" at something like the EKKA for as long as possible), calico "Gladiator" tote bag from the Queensland Museum, lava beaded bracelets from Gone Dotti & a jaunty straw cloche hat with black lace band from Myer to complete the look & ward off the sun's harmful rays.

Real Deal American Hot Dog with Chili Cheese Fries on the Side

Brother/Sister Selfie

Heritage Bank Wild West Stunt Diving Show
Seriously the BEST thing we saw all day long! Equal parts humour & talent, one of the divers was even the star of the Red Bull Cliff Diving team & had just returned from a competition in Acapulco.

Goats

Cattle

Agricultural Displays

Horses

Llamas

Australian Wool Competition Entrants

Arts & Crafts Cultural Competition Entries

A selection of work from Queensland school children...

Historic "Old Museum" Complex

Entering into the Secret Fairy Garden...
& it was even warm enough to leave my jacket behind!

Traversing the Monte Lupo "Art Trail"

Taking a break (next to a pig's curly tail!) beside the Hay Bale Orienteering Maze

Making a new friend...

Darling Rainbow Finches

Quilt Show Entries

Bosom Buddies

Second walk around Sideshow Alley...
This time Louis decided to have a go at the Angry Birds Slingshot & won two teeny tiny plush mushrooms that I think may be from "Super Mario"

Heading home as the sun sets.
I love to watch as the rides light up the sky as it gradually darkens...
