So excited to share ALL the pictures of what I wore to attend The Royal Ballet's recent performance of Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale," an atmospheric full-length ballet that details the destruction of a once-loving marriage through all-consuming jealousy, the abandonment of a child & seemingly hopeless love; fated to be resurrected through the miracle of a statue of Hermione come to life to herald reconciliation & forgiveness. Much like the ballet itself, I wanted my look to be both epic & eclectic, mixing textures & styles that shouldn't work but ultimately come together to form a harmonious ensemble.

The "hero" of this look is undoubtedly the utterly divine blue rose printed, heavy textured jacquard dress with deep v-neckline & sweeping high/low hem from Anthea Crawford, mixed with an edgy black leather & suede "waterfall" style jacket from European chain store Zara (the epitome of wearing items from all price points). I then added a pair of chunky black leather "biker" boots with thick silver buckles from Pertini (found at my local TK Maxx store for an absolute bargain price), matte 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs toasty-warm in the cold weather & carried a small black leather & denim handbag with shiny silver hardware from Nine West... Yep, I wore blue denim usually associated with casual jeans to a "dressed up" occasion & GOT AWAY WITH IT! Just goes to show that it's all about HOW you do it, as the size & shape of the bag (as well as the addition of leather & silver) renders it more appropriate for a formal event. Finally, I completed the look with a pair of gorgeous silver handmade bangles that I picked up at a recent Medieval Fair.
