Dress: Asos Design Copenhagen embroidered cotton

As we welcome Summertime with a heatwave this weekend, I'm reminiscing about cooler Spring mornings in this gorgeous ensemble, styled around this funky navy & white embroidered cotton wrap dress with balloon sleeves & thick black grosgrain ribbon ties from Asos Design's Copenhagen collection. On a side note, I really feel like I've connected with the Danish side of my ancestry by incorporating some Scandinavian style components & brands into my fashion repertoire... but I digress... In this instance, I've added a pair of white leather strappy heels to enhance the sculptural elements of the dress from my all-time favourite Australian footwear label, Wittner as well as a boho-meets-retro-inspired white painted cane handbag from the delightful Renee Loves Frances boutique in Bulimba & finished the look with a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for that touch of daytime shine.

If you've read this blog for the last few years, you'll know how much I adore the phenomenon of the retro James Bond books & films & have attended, on occasion, other events celebrating the men who have played the ubiquitous secret agent & the so-called "Bond Girls" who provide the femininity, fashion & opportunity for innuendo... In this particular instance, I was "shaken but not stirred" to experience The Music of James Bond at Queensland Performing Arts Complex (QPAC) featuring stellar performances by Luke Kennedy & Kate Ceberano belting out hits such as Goldfinger, Live & Let Die, View to a Kill & For Your Eyes Only backed by full symphonic sound.

For the occasion, I wore a gorgeous floral mesh wiggle dress with satin lining & ruffled hemline from celebrated Aussie designer Anthea Crawford, blush pink leather pointy-toed heels with laces from Wittner, retro-inspired blue vinyl & pink tweed handbag with gold hardware & navy faux fur pompom bag charm from Review with floral printed silk scarf (also from Anthea Crawford) tied around the handles & finally, some Disney Couture gold & resin jewellery to complete the look - a hinged bangle depicting the castle, well & pumpkin carriage from 1950's Cinderella & pink bangle with gold charms depicting the Cheshire Cat from 1951's Alice in Wonderland.

Feeling festive in this bright ensemble that I styled up to attend a recent flamenco dance performance in the River City before stopping by Trammie's Corner in Paddington for these photographs & the amazing Sassafrass Cafe for a late brunch. I'm wearing a gorgeous leaf printed neoprene shift dress with asymmetrical shoulder ruffle from celebrated Aussie label Anthea Crawford, black leather sandals with wedge heels & brass zippers from Novo, vibrant hard-case brass handbag with chain strap from Nepal (generously gifted by my brother & sister-in-law) & a pair of chunky brass & beaded flower hinged bangles that some dear friends gifted me a few years ago.

Scoll down to see more...

Keep scrolling for a quick peek at the delicious Miso Mushrooms (washed down with a Banana & Honey Smoothie) from Sassafrass Cafe...

Finally sharing a few of the sweet pictures from an afternoon celebrating the birthday of someone near & dear to us with choc chip cookies, a cheese platter & gifts galore! As far as fashion was concerned, a warmer-than-average spring evening meant that crisp, cool cotton was the way to go, ostensibly this amazing black tiered mini dress with tie shoulder straps & rainbow "Hey" embroidery from Aussie label Gorman's recent collaboration with artist Rachel Castle, a pair of black leather sandals with silver buckles from Wittner, a black woven straw shoulder bag from H&M to carry all the essentials & finally, a matching clear & yellow resin bangle & ring from a label called Zsiska, found at the delightful Sea Wish Coolangatta boutique a few years ago.
