Mother of All Days

Finally sharing all the beautiful pictures from our family's recent Mothers Day festivities. As always, it's a bittersweet time as we're missing beloved family members & dear friends such as my Godmother & namesake who touched our lives in irreplaceable ways but it's also the perfect time to truly celebrate the woman who holds us all together even when the times get rough - my beautiful mother, Joanne. Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...

For the occasion - a family roast chicken dinner - I donned a stunning duck-egg-blue & navy embroidered spot chiffon midi dress with elasticated waist, high ruffled neckline & tiered hemline from "girly" label Review, a pair of navy patent leather heeled loafers with fringing by Paul Green that I picked up a few years ago in a mega sale at Peter Sheppard & navy blue 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty & warm. When it came to jewellery, I chose some special pieces in the form of vintage Mexican silver bangle stack that some dear friends sent from overseas & a single, thicker vintage silver bangle from (newly reopened in Tweed Heads) 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that my younger brother chose for my birthday a few years ago to complete the look.

There's nothing more beautiful than a plethora of Christmas trees & Christmas lights during the festive season & in 2021, the so-called St Nicholas Precinct (Nicholas Street) in Ipswich had both, with a stunning & imaginative display open to the public every weeknight for two weeks. I was lucky enough to be able to attend (prior to the opening of the borders & flood of Covid cases) with my cousin & her two rambunctious munchkins & enjoy the celebratory atmosphere in my hometown's newly gentrified "mall" area with its promenade of tannenbaums, lighting installations, interactive fountains, comfortable deck chairs, food trucks selling everything from gourmet pizza to coffee to ice cream & funky little boutiques dotted around in old store fronts.

For the occasion, I donned the rather special, vibrant red cotton "What's Flowing On" smock dress with ruffled neckline & straps from Trelise Cooper's more casual diffusion line, Coop, discovered at the amazing Hummingbird the Shop in Paddington; a pair of purple & gold printed "Miramar Big Buckle" leather sandals with gold accents from Birkenstock via Footgear at Indooroopilly; a bohemian-inspired, natural woven straw handbag from Etsy to keep my hands free while carrying all the essentials (mask, sanitizer) & to complete the look, a trio of vintage wooden Kashmiri hand-painted bangles in shades of red, green & gold that were gifted to me by some dear friends.
