Keeping it simple & ever-so-slightly retro in these gorgeous pictures, taken at a local park that really is like stepping into another world, a peaceful rural idyll in the middle of a busy cityscape. I'm posing under the gum trees wearing a gorgeous black & blue floral cotton 50s fit-to-flare midi dress from Retrospec'd, blue woven silk cropped cardigan from Kitten D'Amour to ward off the slight chill in the air & a pair of black matte & patent leather loafers from Pitillos that I picked up in a recent sale at Obsession Shoes at the "top of town" in Ipswich for the perfect fusion of comfort & style.

Joyfully sharing all the pictures from recent mother/daughter shopping trip in Brisbane City, browsing all of our favourite stores (particularly in The Wintergarden, where these photographs were quickly snapped) before heading over to the delightful Longtime Yum Cha for a delicious, leisurely lunch together in their beautiful surrounds. For the occasion, I wore this absolutely stunning blue floral silk burnout midi-length wrap dress with jersey slip from Brisbane designer Sacha Drake, styled up in a slightly different way to what I did on a recent day out (check out the blog post here) with a pair of black vegan leather round-toe t-bar heels with buttons & bows from retro-inspired label Kitten D'Amour, a natural woven straw & black leather handbag from Witchery to carry all the essentials, a brushed silver cuff from Wallace Bishop that I've had for at least 15 years & a vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that was given to me by my younger brother on the one wrist & a stack of handpainted wooden art nouvea style bangles that a dear friend painted especially for me on the other.

All dressed up & ready to "turn on, tune in & drop out" for the day at a Woodstock Anniversary event in my beloved River City. Most people already know about the 3 days of peace, love & music that occurred in Bethel, upstate New York in 1969 at Max Yager's family's dairy farm that is widely regarded as the absolute pinnacle of the counterculture/anti-Vietnam-war/hippie movement but what I find hardest to believe is that it was 55 years ago! So much of the sentiment, the social upheaval & the themes of the music are still current today & I've been lucky enough in my lifetime to have seen some of the performers from the festival at subsequent concerts & they still seemed as youthful & exuberant as they played to a crowd, so I guess it's true when they opine that there's nothing new under the sun.

But I digress. For the occasion, I was elated to wear this absolutely stunning orange & gold floral & paisley print silk midi dress with lightly puffed sleeves, heavily embellished cuffs & belt & soft jersey slip underneath for modesty from Brisbane label Sacha Drake, styled up with a pair of black matte leather pointy-toed heeled booties from Wittner for a modicum of height, a vintage black floral jacquard bag with fringing from Vintage Advantage to carry some essentials & a slouchy, upcycled patchwork sari offcuts tote bag from my local Tree of Life store to carry the rest. When it came to jewellery, I chose special pieces in the form of a stack of vintage Mexican silver bangles that dear friends brought back from overseas, a single vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that you've probably seen on here a million times by now & finally, a silver & amber cocktail ring from the delightful ladies at Precious Stones Jewellers that was a thoughtful birthday gift from my wonderful parents earlier this year.

Well, I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, "Tell me, where are you going?"
And this he told me...

"I'm going down to Yasgur's Farm
Gonna join a rock'n'roll band
Got to get back to the land
Set my soul free."

We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion-year-old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden...
