It's no secret that antiquing & "shopping small" at a variety of different little independent boutiques & markets is something that I absolutely love to do & that goes double for during the festive season! I'm sharing all the gorgeous pictures from a morning spent browsing around a new haunt (Vend Annerley) & a couple of favourites (New Farm Antique Centre & Camp Hill Antiques, respectively) with my younger brother as well as a leisurely lunch at the delightful Aji Spice House at Teneriffe. For the occasion - a slightly cooler morning in South East Queensland - I donned a stunning burgundy & cream large-scale embroidered floral mini dress with drawstring neckline & sweet angel sleeves from a label called Sass that I picked up from Oh Jo Jo Boutique in Ipswich, a pair of burgundy vegan leather retro-inspired t-bar heels with buttons & bows from Kitten D'Amour for a modicum of height, a burgundy woven paper crossbody bag with strap from Sussan to carry all the essentials, a stack of vintage Mexican silver bangles from some dear friends & single vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles to complete the look & add some daytime shine.

Another day, another festive shopping trip with the ones I love! This time, a leisurely look around Brisbane City's famed Wintergarden before heading over to Longtime Yum Cha (one of our favourite haunts) & finishing the day with a cheeky coffee at the new Uptown at the top of the Queen Street Mall. For the occasion, I wore a gorgeous black floral guipure lace sheath dress with midi length hemline, mauve satin lining & black beaded detailing from Aussie designer Anthea Crawford, a pair of black vegan leather strappy Mary Jane heels with matching natural woven straw handbag with black resin beaded handle from retro-inspired label Kitten D'Amour to carry all the essentials with a black organza scarf from funky That Shop - missing you at Paddington, ladies! - tied around the handle for added flourish. When it came to jewellery, I chose some favourite silver pieces that my parents have gifted me from the delightful ladies at Precious Stones Jewellers - a chunky, arto deco inspired wave-shaped hinged bangle & Najo tribal cuff... one one each wrist to complete the look.

Race That Stops A Nation

Dress: Sacha Drake jacquard
Heels: Wittner leather, elastic
Clutch: Gift, Alannah Hill beaded
Headband: Lovisa mesh
Bangles: Gift, vintage silver (from India)

Although I didn't attend as many Spring Racing Carnival events this year as I normally would due to a packed work schedule, it didn't make my outfit for the "Race That Stops A Nation" or the raceday celebrations any less special! For the occasion - bubbly & a bit of a flutter for charity - I wore a stunning navy blue & silver floral jacquard fit-to-flare gown with asymmetrical neckline from Australian designer Sacha Drake, styled up with a pair of black leather & elastic gladiator-style stiletto heels from Wittner for an unexpected bohemian touch, a silver art-deco style silver & black beaded envelope clutch from Alannah Hill that my parents gave me as a birthday present a few years ago, a black mesh headband with rosette detailing from Lovisa (hiding in a box in the back of my closet for at least ten years, which is why I try to hold on to as much stuff as possible... you never know when it will come in handy for a look) to continue to evoke the "roaring twenties" vibe & finally, two chunky vintage silver bangles that a dear friend brought back from a trip to India to complete the look & add some daytime shine.

As many of my avid readers probably already know, I absolutely adore spending time in little townships browsing around antique stores & boutiques & this is especially true around Christmas time when I'm on the hunt for ecletic gifts for family & friends. On this occasion, I was visiting Marburg wearing a gorgeous upcycled woven cotton, ribbon & lace Mexican dress (cut really, really short) from Retro Metro Paddington, a pair of navy leather & elastic heeled sandals from a label called Pitillos that I picked up at Obsession Shoes, a navy vinyl handbag with beige ribbon accents from Cellini that I found recently at Laidley Shoez to carry all the essentials & some of my most beloved pieces of silver jewellery - a stack of vintage Mexican bangles that some dear friends brought back from overseas & a single vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that my brother gave me as birthday present a few years ago.
