Finally sharing all the beautiful pictures from a morning spent exploring Queensland's Scenic Rim, taking a leisurely drive through gorgeous bush & farmland before browsing at antique stores - namely The Emporium at Kalbar & Scotland Yard Antiques at Marburg - & even picking up a cold drink & a sweet treat at Lovett on the way through! The cooler weather was the ideal opportunity to wear my brand new pastel checked silk/linen smock dress from cult label Gorman (a cheeky little birthday treat to myself) styled up with a pair of chocolate brown vegan leather strappy heels with buttons from "girly" label Kitten D'Amour, chocolate brown embossed leather crossbody bag from Trottie Becke (a sweet little gift purchased with my birthday money) & a pair of brass bangles - a twisted, chunky vintage option that I picked up at least twelve years ago from The Way We Wore Vintage Fair on one arm & a thinner, brushed option from my local Tree of Life store on the other.

Like many women all over the world, I have long idolised the works of Regency author Jane Austen - particularly the celebrated "Pride & Prejudice" - & have often seen myself in the headstrong, intelligent & articulate Lizzie Bennett, so being able to see the tale unfolded in QPAC's Playhouse theatre was certainly a treat! For the occasion, I decided to dress to the theme with this stunning mint green, blush pink & pale blue embroidered floral mesh wiggle dress with soft polyester bodice & velvet-lined ruffle from "girly" Australian label Kitten D'Amour, styled up with a pair of strappy blush matte & metallic leather heels from Django & Juliette via Styletread's online emporium & a boxy blush vinyl handbag from Olga Berg that I picked up from my local Myer department store years ago to wear to my brother's wedding. When it came to jewellery, I wore some beloved silver pieces - a single, silver hinged bangle from Oxfam (first worn to my high school formal quite some time ago), a chunky Victorian silver belcher bracelet with oversized filigree heart locket & teeny tiny key from Kellie's Antiques that a dear friend gave to me for my 30th birthday & finally, a vintage "peace sign" mood ring made from 1970s silver & enamel (another wonderful birthday gift) for that final pop of pastel colour.

Little Green Dress

*

Dress: Oh Jo Jo Boutique jacquard
Heels: Alfie & Evie via Obsession Shoes leather
Bag: Vera May via Obsession Shoes vinyl
Bangles: Gift, Indian gold, silver, beads, sparkles

Finally posting all the gorgeous photographs of this stunning green & blue floral print jacquard mini dress with funky asymmetrical shoulder detailing, ruched waist & fluted mini length that I picked up from the delightful Oh Jo Jo Boutique at the "top of town" in Ipswich. What you might not know is that this dress was originally one-shouldered & although I sometimes like to wear strapless bras & show a little more skin, it makes most sense for me - personally - to add an extra strap to make my dresses more "user friendly," therefore meaning that I'll reach for them in my wardrobe more often. Luckily for me, the tie at the shoulder had miles of extra material that my seamstress was able to use to fashion another strap without sacrificing the fun & flirty vibe of the frock. Basically, I'm bringing this to your attention to say that it's okay if you purchase an item that you fall in love with & tweak it to make it ideal for you alone; that's the beauty of fashion. Tweaks made, I styled it up for a day in my beloved River City by adding a pair of blue leather stiletto-heeled mules from Alfie & Evie & a matching blue vinyl crossbody bag from Vera May - both found at the wonderful Obsession Shoes - & added a plethora of gold & silver sparkly, beaded Indian bangles that a dear friend brought back from an overseas trip years ago for that finishing touch of daytime sparkle.
