Scenic Rim

Finally sharing all the beautiful pictures from a morning spent exploring Queensland's Scenic Rim, taking a leisurely drive through gorgeous bush & farmland before browsing at antique stores - namely The Emporium at Kalbar & Scotland Yard Antiques at Marburg - & even picking up a cold drink & a sweet treat at Lovett on the way through! The cooler weather was the ideal opportunity to wear my brand new pastel checked silk/linen smock dress from cult label Gorman (a cheeky little birthday treat to myself) styled up with a pair of chocolate brown vegan leather strappy heels with buttons from "girly" label Kitten D'Amour, chocolate brown embossed leather crossbody bag from Trottie Becke (a sweet little gift purchased with my birthday money) & a pair of brass bangles - a twisted, chunky vintage option that I picked up at least twelve years ago from The Way We Wore Vintage Fair on one arm & a thinner, brushed option from my local Tree of Life store on the other.

There's nothing that seems brighter or happier in this world than a sunflower... after all, when they can't find the sun in the sky, they just turn to face each other, a fact that absolutely makes me melt when I think too hard about it. Imagine my surprise & delight when I found out that one of my all-time favourite labels, whimsical British design house Sister Jane, had brought out a sweet 1960s style mini-length shift dress in sunflower-print tapestry with an oversized white cotton collar & cuffs & sparkly buttons running down the front panel in their latest Asos drop! I've styled it up for a morning spent traipsing around the scenic little town of Kalbar by adding a pair of black patent & matte leather ankle boots with buttons from Wittner, 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty-warm, a black leather crossbody bag from hipster boutique Pigeonhole to carry all the essentials (if you read this blog enough, I'm sure you'll already know what they are) & some beloved jewellery pieces - a vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles (sadly now closed at Coolangatta) & a vintage Mexican silver bangle stack given to me by some dear friends.

Back to Kalbar

Dress: Sacha Drake jersey
Cardigan: Vero Moda via Myer knit
Ankle Boots: Renee Loves Frances leather
Bag: Soul Nook Collective vinyl, wood
Cuff: Disney Couture silver

One of the best things about this cold, crisp weather is the opportunity to get "out & about" in the Queensland countryside on little daytrips with the family. In this case, we've come back to the lovely little town of Kalbar for a wander around the local boutiques including the historical Kalbar Post Office & Sweets Store, a browse around The Emporium for some recently-rediscovered goodies, a delicious all-day breakfast at Lovett at Kalbar Cafe & a leisurely drive along quiet roads with the low winter sun streaming in through the windows & a stunning view of the mountains in the background.

For the occasion, I wore a gorgeous navy & white spotted jersey wrap dress with midi-length hemline & sweet little cap sleeves from Aussie designer Sacha Drake, a fuzzy camel-coloured knit cardigan with bracelet-length sleeves & large covered buttons from Vero Moda at my local Myer department store, a pair of tan leather ankle boots with silver zipper from Renee Loves Frances (four years of wear & counting) with matching tan vinyl crossbody bag with wooden clasp from Soul Nook Collective to carry all the essentials & finally, a funky silver knife-fork-spoon cuff from Disney Couture to complete the look.
