Lady Vintage

Finally sharing all of the pictures of these two gorgeous floral cotton dresses from Lady Vintage London via the darling Love Daphne Retro, perfect not only in the cooler weather with cardigans, ruffled petticoats & closed-in shoes but ideal for the summertime with some kitten heeled sandals & armfuls of colourful bangles...

I've styled the first dress - a gorgeous pink & yellow floral on a black background - with a vibrant yellow knitted cardigan from Aussie label Review that nips in at the smallest part of my waist to create an elongated silhouette, a full black nylon ruffled petticoat from Banned Retro via That Shop to emphasise the dress' fit-to-flare silhouette & add some "oomph" by peeking out beneath the hemline, a pair of black vegan leather heels with t-bar detailing & teen tiny buttons from Kitten D'Amour & lastly, for a final pop of colour, four wooden religious bracelets that my Godchildren sent me to celebrate Easter this year.

I've styled up the second dress - yellow & white roses on a navy blue background - with a statement-making, full ruffled petticoat in a shade of bright lipstick red from Banned Retro via That Shop to once again "play up" the 1950s theme of the dress, a pair of shiny navy patent loafers from Paul Green via Peter Sheppard Shoes for added height while maintaining the look's casual vibe & finally, a chunky green lucite snake bangle with red diamante eye from Mrs Polly Lucite that some dear friends sent for my birthday.

Finding a place with great food & an equally amazing atmosphere that isn't too far away from home can be difficult, but I think I've finally "nailed it" with Fourthchild Cafe Restaurant. My father & I dropped in the other day for a quick lunch & were pleasantly surprised by the new, much larger premises (helpfully across the road & "up a bit" from the previous location) & the service we received from waitstaff throughout our visit. The homemade, chunky beef pie that I ordered (washed down with a refreshing "Shirley Temple" of grenadine & soda water) was delicious too & the portion size as epic as before.

It also provided me with the perfect opportunity to wear my new floral cotton fit-to-flare dress from Lady V London via That Shop that was ideal for this intensely humid weather we've been experiencing with its lighter weight, shorter hem & square neckline, styled up with a classic pair of black suede, pointy-toed mules from Wittner & a boxy black suede & vinyl handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection. Jewellery was kept simple yet statement-making - a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for some daytime shine & a handpainted ceramic brooch in the shape of a magpie that some dear friends gifted me, knowing my affinity for the birds since childhood.
