Nope, this isn't an April Fool's Day joke... I actually DID go & see the Lego Batman movie on the first of the month! To celebrate someone's 38th birthday (ahem, he shall remain nameless... yet features in a couple of the following photographs) my best friend Belinda & I took her husband & two boys for a school holiday excursion to the local shopping centre, culminating in a delicious lunch at Nantucket's Kitchen & Bar

Anyhoo, I'm posing with the Caped Crusader himself in the theatre lobby wearing a gorgeous large-scale floral fit-to-flare twill dress from Anthea Crawford (it was my Christmas dress, click here for reference), pattern-mixed small-scale floral silk/satin bomber jacket with zipper & pearlised vinyl handbag with gold hardware from Forever New (the ideal weight for the air-conditioning), sparkly gold sandals with a slight wedge heel from C'est Bon at Williams the Shoemen & a chunky pink & gold bangle with diamante edges & Cheshire Cat charms from Disney Couture's Alice in Wonderland collection.

Now, because there's no such thing as too much birthday (unless you happen to talk to the Berenstain Bears), here are a few pictures of little Oliver opening his second birthday present (from moi) that same afternoon...

Sunday in the Park

Dress: Vintage, Gwen Gwillam rayon
Sandals: Wittner leather & pom-pom
Bag: Sportgirl vinyl with gold hardware
Cuff: Cafe D'Bar gold with hand painted ceramic

Finally posting the pictures from an extremely hot & humid Sunday afternoon at my favourite local park, replete with historic limestone gates, croquet club lawn, animal sanctuary, peace garden, kiosk serving delicious cakes as well as piping hot chips & all manner of playground equipment including swings, slides, climbing frames & flying fox. Accompanied by my best friend & her two rambunctious boys, we made the most of the virtually deserted destination (an approaching thunderstorm will do that... spoiler alert: it didn't arrive in the end...) sheltering in the kiosk while the rain fell before hitting the equipment with gusto to "make up for lost time" the way only an eight year old (& his almost two year old shadow) can!

I'm wearing a vintage tribal-printed rayon smock in vibrant shades of pink, purple, orange & green (to name but a few) by famed designer Gwen Gwillam, gifted to me a few years ago & still one of the most prized additions to my wardrobe; a pair of beige leather lace-up sandals with coloured pom-poms from Wittner; matching vinyl cross-body bag from Sportsgirl & finally, a handmade blue & white ceramic & gold cuff from Cafe D'Bar's Art Gallery.

Yup. All that playground equipment & he goes for a couple of sticks... the same ones you can find in backyards everywhere!
