A few pictures from a recent trip to the movies with my younger brother to see "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" in Event Cinema Gold Class followed by a leisurely Italian dinner at the delightful Giallo Ristorante in Carina. For the occasion, I wore a comfortable yet stylish floral silk chiffon pleated maxi dress from Australian designer Aje, a pair of black suede pointy-toed mules from Wittner for a modicum of height, a black vinyl 90s-style shoulder bag from Sussan to carry all the essentials including facemask and hand sanitizer & some chunky silver jewellery pieces in the form of a Guess watch & a hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop to complete the look.

Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...

My verdict on the film? I enjoyed the movie despite the distinct lack of Bill Murray air time (he was probably in it 10 minutes max) although nothing can top the original film for its creativity, uniqueness & laugh-out-loud moments. The new franchise has, for me, a much darker feel & a more serious undertone, probably akin to what Dan Aykroyd was actually hoping to achieve in the 1980s but was forced to pivot to a more palatable, comedic style. Kumail Nanjiani was a definite stand-out as a slacker/grifter caught up in the supernatural hijinks (at first) against his will...

Lately

Loving mini dresses with longer sleeves for the cooler temperatures, particularly this little number that I picked up from online emporium The Iconic, styled up with a pair of black matte leather pointy-toed booties from Wittner & a black textured vinyl triangular shoulder bag from French Connection that I discovered at my local TK Maxx store for under $25 which is an absolute bargain.

Nothing better than a piping hot chai latte & a chocolate chip muffin (slightly warmed up) from Muffin Break before work...

Relaxing in my backyard happy place wearing a casual but funky Indian print cotton maxi dress from Tree of Life & burgundy suede Birkenstock sandals.

All dressed up in blue & silver for lunch at Fourth Child at the "Top of Town" in Ipswich. This gorgeous crepe & lurex striped puff-sleeve mini dress is from Forever New & I've styled it up with a pair of black vegan leather dual buckle heels from Kitten D'Amour, a black vinyl shoulder bag from Sussan to carry all the essentials, a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop & a very delicate silver stars & moons chain belt from Sportsgirl for that extra touch of daytime shine. Yes, I did have the homemade chunky pie with potatoes & side salad, washed down with my all time favourite Shirley Temple...

Checking out "The Haunted Mansion" movie at Events Cinemas as a mother/daughter day out before heading to San Churro Chocolateria for a treat. I'm wearing a gorgeous denim mini dress with white embroidered trim from Zimmermann, a pair of white leather pointy-toed mules with wooden heels from Country Road, a white & tan floral cotton bag with tan leather strap from the sweet Ember & Twine boutique at the "Top of Town" in Ipswich & a pair of brass bangles to complete the look - one twisted vintage option that I picked up at the "Way We Wore" Vintage Fair many year ago & the other from my local Tree of Life store.

A funky little fishy in this amazing ensemble from Australian design duo Romance Was Born's recent collaboration with famed 1980s artist Ken Done - a gorgeous twill mini dress with ruffled hemline & elasticated waist in a bright pink, fish covered print & matching mesh footless tights covered in the same. I've styled it up with a pair of black matte leather booties from Wittner, a vintage silver & black beaded evening bag that once belonged to my great aunt & chunky silver art deco wave hinged bangle from the delightful Precious Stones Jewellers in Uptown (formerly Myer Centre).

Mirror selfies in floral ramie Fate + Becker with a deep v-neckline & high/low hem (discovered at one of my favourite boutiques, Kaysuelle Fashions in Rosewood), black crepe camisole from my local Big W store for modesty purposes, a pair of black matte pointy-toed heeled booties from Wittner, a black textured vinyl triangular shoulder bag from French Connection via TK Maxx to carry all the essentials & a chunky black leather necklace with white carved wooden pendant from the Queensland Art Gallery gift shop.
