Rethreaded #2

Dress: Vintage Rethreaded via Roselle Store upcycled fabric remnants, trim
Heels: Wittner leather, elastic
Bag: Cotton On woven paper

As discussed in yesterday's blog post, upcycling, recycling & sustainability are real "buzz" words in both the fashion industry & wider society at the moment. The delightful Vintage Rethreaded uses beautiful fabric, harmonious fabric remnants such as material & embroidered doilies to create stunning second-life garments such as this adorable mini smock dress with its puff sleeves & ruffled hemline. I've styled it up with a simple pair of flesh tone gladiator-style stiletto heels from Wittner & natural woven paper slouch bag from Cotton On to give the look a distinctly modern edge while celebrating the history of the fabrics (particularly the doily yoke detailing) that make up the sum of its parts.

If you've been paying close attention to both social & mainstream media sources in the last few years (& through the last few election cycles in this country) you'll probably already know that sustainability & conservation are becoming top priorities in many areas of society. Those of us in fashion are aware that "fast fashion" or clothing that is only worn a few times & then discarded when its no longer the latest fad is a global problem that  - in its simplest terms - contributes to landfill issues. One way to combat this to continue to upcycle or recycle clothing & textiles by refashioning them into new garments & this is what the delightful Vintage Rethreaded does with her one-of-a-kind items made from a plethora of complementary vintage or discarded fabrics, doilies, embroidery & trims! At last count, I have three of her wonderful creations (sourced from old stockist Roselle Store) & this little number - with its Autumnal vibes - is perfect for the changing seasons. I've styled it up here with a pair of flesh tone leather & elastic gladiator-style stiletto heels from Wittner & a natural woven paper slouch bag from Cotton On to give the "sweet" smock silhouette a bit of edge.

Rosewood in Upcycled Vintage

*

Dress: Vintage Rethreaded via Roselle Store upcycled fabric scraps
Mules: Wittner suede
Bag: City Beach woven paper

Keeping it sweet & simple in a gorgeous upcyled vintage fabric scrap mini smock dress from the delightful & of course, infinitely resourceful Vintage Rethreaded that I picked up at Roselle Store in Paddington for the brief time they were stocked there, a pair of tan suede pointy-toed mules from Wittner & a natural woven paper circular cross-body bag from my local City Beach store to carry all the essentials for a morning spent enjoying the semi-rural surroundings of the small town of Rosewood. Absolutely loving these cooler temperatures & looking forward to what the rest of the Autumnal season has to offer!

Just a few more for good measure...
