I'm so elated to begin sharing snippets from our beautiful & cosy (read: admittedly quiet) Easter celebrations for 2022, starting with this cute-as-a-button pink ditsy floral print cotton mini smock dress from Brisbane-based slow-fashion label Little Tienda & a hilarious white faux fur bunny ear headpiece/hat with velcro chin strap from online emporium Shein for that whimsical, straight out of Bedknobs & Broomsticks feeling... Yes, I'll be honest & say that I did have a moment where I stood in front of the mirror to repeat those immortal magic words, intoned by David Tomlinson (my absolute favourite Disney actor of all time) as Professor Emelius Browne - FILIGREE APOGEE PEDIGREE PERIGEE - fleetingly hoping upon hope that the spell would turn me into a fluffy white rabbit for even a split second...

Thinking back on sunnier, warmer days in sweet, bohemian shift dresses like this gorgeous green & gold floral printed eco vero number with shoestring straps & front split from hippie-luxe label Nine Lives Bazaar, styled up with a pair of soft gold vegan leather deco heels from Kitten D'Amour for a modicum of height, a natural woven straw handbag from my local H&M store to carry all the essentials, a chunky maple wood watch with silver accents from Montville Woods Gallery & finally, a vintage silver bangle for that finishing touch of daytime shine.

It's only recently that I've started mixing plain, block colours (rather than busy prints) back into my wardrobe & even leaning into basics such as Little Black Dresses (LBD), Little White Dresses (LWD) & even pastel or neutral shades. Throughout this process, I have found that if the item is special enough & has a few interesting, unique touches or even impeccable tailoring & fit, it still holds as much interest as some of the more ostentatious prints & patterns that I usually gravitate towards. Case in point: the stunning black cotton shirred Lagoon Maxi Dress with tiered hemline, tie straps & exposed back zipper from Aussie cool-girl label Aje that I styled up for a recent event in my beloved River City. To "dress it up" for a semi-formal occasion, I've added a pair of monochrome vegan leather heels with ankle strap & matching natural woven straw handbag with black beaded handle from vintage-inspired brand Kitten D'Amour, a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for that touch of daytime shine & finally, a pair of handcarved & handpainted bangles gifted by dear friends - in the shape of a tiger & zebra, respectively - to complete the look & draw in all of the elements.
