Sometimes the best looks are the ones that are "thrown together" without a moment's thought as you rush out the door... like this ensemble, worn to scoot around my local park with a certain pair of munchkins. When I purchase items, I try to make sure that they work with at least three or four other items in my wardrobe to ensure that I'll get "cost per wear" out of them. This gorgeous rose printed satin fit-to-flare dress from Anthea Crawford works with leather jackets, denim jackets, red knitted jumpers, pink woven tunics & even a cropped black knitted cardigan with three-quarter-sleeves from "girly" Aussie label Review. Moreover, the floral pattern can even be mixed with funkier items like these amazing spotted orange, red & black leather soccer-style joggers from Adidas or "toned down" with a black nylon & textured vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Nautica.

Hello, lovely readers! I'm so excited to share all the pictures from a day spent in the company of someone dear, talking about all things high & low art, culture, fashion & social zeitgeists while taking in some of the best on offer, beginning with GOMA's latest provocative exhibit Curious Affection by Patricia Piccanini & finishing up with the more traditional offerings at the Queensland Art Gallery. For the occasion, I donned a beautiful monochrome dress with black velvet lace bodice & voluminous organza & floral embroidered fit-to-flare skirt with high/low hemline from Sacha Drake, fuzzy black mohair short-sleeved cropped cardigan from Kitten D'Amour for that retro flair, shiny black patent heeled booties from Wittner, 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz & a boxy suede handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection. When it came to jewellery, I kept things matchy-matchy: a silver & onyx charm bangle & ring from Pandora on the left & a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop on the right.
