Finally sharing all the pictures from our pre-Christmas jaunt to Newstead/Teneriffe to have lunch with a dear family friend at Botany Restaurant in the gentrified Gasworks precinct as well as do a little last-minute festive shopping at one of my all-time favourite places, the inimitable New Farm Antique Centre. For the occasion, I donned a bright & breezy red linen & silk blend midi dress with asymmetrical bias-cut waist detailing, blousy bodice & tiered hemline from Basque (exclusive to Myer stores), a pair of natural leather & elastic gladiator-style stiletto heels from Wittner for a modicum of height & matching natural-tone woven paper slouch bag from my local Cotton On store to carry all the essentials. When it came to jewellery, I wore my vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that was given to me as a birthday present by my younger brother a few years ago, a trio of Christmas-themed red, green & white glass beaded bracelets with silver charms that were a gift from my aunt & finally, a funky resin gingerbread house Erstwilder brooch that my mother received as a thoughtful gift from friend that I commandeered for myself... for the day, at least...

So good... especially when washed down with a piping hot latte...

On to the next destination... this time wearing my amazing faux tortoiseshell (resin) modified cat's eye sunglasses from Witchery...

A few selfies in my happy place...

Finally sharing pictures of the gorgeous ensemble that I wore to see the inimitable Sir Paul McCartney perform in Brisbane at the end of last year. For a serious Beatles & Wings fan, this was the ultimate dream concert & I dressed accordingly, donning a stunning new cream & black geometric print linen bias-cut midi dress with front side split, cowl neckline & waist belt with chunky gold buckle from Australian label Aje to both look great & attempt to "beat the heat & humidity" as much as possible. When it came to styling, I added a pair of stone leather lace-up heels from Jo Mercer for a modicum of height, a matching stone vinyl pouch bag that I found at my local TK Maxx store for under $20 that worked because I could hold it close to me when needed but wear as a crossbody bag when I wanted to have my hands free to dance, a chunky, vintage gold elephant necklace (that I suspect was a belt at one time) from the amazing Vintage Advantage at the "top of town" in Ipswich & finally, a black resin hinged bangle with gold & onyx detailing from Samantha Wills that was, in fact, a "gift with purchase" of a subscription to "In Style" magazine more than twenty years ago!

Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I adore vintage clothing, jewellery & accessories & mostly stick to the 1960s, 1970s & 1980s in terms of silhouette, fit & print choice. This stunning graphic print viscose maxi dress with cotton lining & side splits from Australian brand Stitches that I recently picked up from the Broken to Brilliant Op Shop in the middle of Brisbane City is, however, all kinds of 1990s goodness that I am absolutely loving right now - particularly when cinched in at the waist with a modern black woven belt from the delightful Oh Jo Jo Boutique to give it more shape & shorten it slightly by allowing me to "blouse" it up a smidge to work better with my five foot frame. I've styled it up with a pair of black leather & elastic lace up gladiator-style stiletto heels from Wittner to emphasise the black lines inherent in the dress print, added a natural woven straw handbag with black leather clasp & black resin beaded strap from Kitten D'Amour to carry all the essentials while adding a touch of urban bohemia & donned some chunky vintage jewellery pieces in the form of an African silver cuff (over 100 years old) that a dear friend gave me many years ago now & an Indian silver bangle that was brought back from another dear friend's recent trip to Cuttack (over 75 years old) to complete the look.
