If you're an avid reader of this blog, you may have already realised that when it comes to fashion, I'm certainly no slave to a certain era. In fact, I like the vast majority of fashion evolution - except perhaps for the sequinned monstrosities of the 1980s, the on-safari looks of the early 1990s & the low-rise jeans nightmare of the Y2k phenomenon - & what's more, I like to mix them together in the one look. Case in point: the gorgeous ensemble that I styled up to attend a recent performance celebrating the inimitable Leo Sayer - a stunning 1920s-flapper-inspired polka dotted silk chiffon drop-waist midi dress with tiered & ruffled hemline, voluminous full-length sleeves & high neckline from celebrated Australian label Zimmermann with black elastane slip underneath from Taking Shape for modesty purposes, a pair of modern flesh-tone/beige matte leather pointy-toed booties from Wittner for a modicum of height, a natural woven straw circular crossbody bag with tan leather strap akin to those popular in the bohemian days of the 1990s from the delightful Harmony Homewares boutique that has just opened up beside my hairdresser & a chunky brass cocktail ring from my local Tree of Life store. As usual, the unpredictable weather patterns in South East Queensland meant that a further layer was required in the morning & this amazing cape from Ra Ra Superstar at Paddington (upcycled from a 1960s blanket) fitted the bill perfectly; you can see it in all its glory in the pictures below...
