If you're an avid reader of this blog, you'll probably already know that I'm a die-hard "Jurassic Park" movie fan & have even seen the re-release on the big screen as well as the subsequent sequels & creation of the "Jurassic World" franchise so it'll come as now surprise that a trip to the "Jurassic World by Brickman" Lego exhibition at the Queensland Museum was basically a dream come true! Accompanied by my cousin & her two Lego-loving, dinosaur-obsessed boys, we spent at day at Southbank's Cultural Precinct checking out not only the exhibit in question but many of the other interesting holiday activities on offer, including the "Insect Agency" exhibit (showcasing many of the museum's 3.9 million bug specimens), the prehistoric mega fauna section & even a trip to the Queensland Art Gallery's courtyard for a play on the stepping stones... not to mention a trip to the Muse Cafe for a piping hot coffee & a smoked salmon bagel (well, that was my order anyway).
For a day like this, it was important to not only dress in something that was smart/casual, but something with layers as the Queensland winter weather is a truly infuriating mix of hot & cold depending on the time of day. I chose a gorgeous burgundy, mauve & charcoal floral printed cotton fit-to-flare midi dress cinched in with a thin patent leather belt from retro-inspired label Review, styled up with a purple silk/cotton knit cropped cardigan from Kitten D'Amour & washed grey coated cotton anorak with floral cuffs that I picked up from Vinnies Rosewood for only $5 to ward off the morning chill in the air. When it came to accessories, I chose a pair of comfortable black leather sneakers with white rubber soles from Converse, a black nylon crossbody bag from Nautica (found at my local TK Maxx store) to carry all the essentials while keeping my hands free to explore & a monochrome woven upcycled plastic tote bag that a dear friend gave me for my birthday last year. With jewellery, I kept it simple - my vintage Mexican silver bangles that some darling friends brought back from a trip overseas for that touch of daytime sparkle.
