Regencycore

*

Dress: Morrison embroidered cotton
Heels: Jo Mercer leather, laces
Hat: Morgan & Taylor via Myer straw, lace

*

Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I absolutely adore the works of Jane Austen & this gorgeous embroidered cotton maxi dress from Aussie label Morrison with its shirred, square bodice, tapered puff sleeves & tiered hemline is certainly reminiscent of the Regency era... albeit with a little update, as seen recently in Autumn de Wilde's film adaptation of "Emma." I've truly leant into the Regencycore vibes with a pair of black leather lace-up heeled sandals from Jo Mercer for a modicum of height & a chunky base to balance the dress & even added a natural straw hat with black lace trim from Morgan & Taylor (purchased years & years ago from my local Myer department store) to complete the look.

Sharing something "sunny" on the blog on this dreary, wet & rainy Monday morning! In these gorgeous, smiley pictures I'm wearing a beautiful yellow floral print linen mini smock dress with oversized tie straps from Australian fashion stalwart Sportscraft's summertime collaboration with famed British label Liberty London, a white cotton top with sweet ruffled sleeves from my local Target store, a pair of white leather strappy heels from Wittner that I've had for around 5 years now & are still going strong, a whimsical pink woven straw handbag in the shape of a house with white calico strap from Olli Ella via online emporium The Iconic & a pair of handmade beaded cuffs that I picked up from the EKKA Markets more than 10 years ago this year.

Bag: Gift, vintage patchwork
Bangles: Gift, handpainted wood

On a similarly overcast day, I'm sharing all of the pictures of an absolutely gorgeous ensemble that I styled up to wear to a private art exhibition in my beloved River City. I'm wearing a stunning blue crepe midi dress with caped neckline from celebrated Australian designer Anthea Crawford, a pair of black vegan leather round-toe heels with t-bar, buttons & bows from Kitten D'Amour, a vintage patchwork pouch bag (gifted by some dear friends) to carry all of the essentials including a mask & hand sanitizer & stacks of wooden bangles handpainted with art nouvea flowers that a dear friend made for me during lockdown.

What we see & what we seem are but a dream within a dream...

All dressed up like an extra from Picnic at Hanging Rock (1967) for a vintage-inspired blogger picnic with online friends both old & new. For the occasion, I wore a stunning off-white checked organza empire-line midi dress with puff sleeves from whimsical British label Sister Jane's high end diffusion line Dream Sister Jane, a pair of shiny black patent ankle boots from Wittner, a black velvet pouch bag embroidered with gold, silver & brass suns & stars from my local Sportsgirl store to carry all the essentials, a trio of sparkly Indian bangles that a dear friend brought back from a trip to India many moons ago, a natural woven straw boater hat with black grosgrain ribbon tie from Forever New & finally, a pair of off-white crochet gloves that I picked up from a delightful stall at the Rocklea Collectibles Fair prior to Covid 19 restrictions.

Fairytale

*

Dress: Halogen x Atlantic Pacific embellished polyblend
Cardigan: Review knit, faux pearls
Belt: HellBunny via That Shop patent, elastic
Ankle Boots: Wittner patent leather
Bag: Review textured vinyl, faux pearls

*

It's no secret that I love whimsical dresses that have that "fairytale vibe" about them (never more so than during this Covid 19 nightmare) & this gorgeous little number from American "Atlantic-Pacific" blogger Blair Eadie's collaboration with Halogen is no exception. The frothy pink confection with its smocked shape, tiered hemline & cap sleeves is the stuff that dreams are made of & not only have I cinched it at the waist with a wide, vintage-inspired black patent & elastic belt from HellBunny via That Shop, I've styled it up with some "heavier" black accessories to bring it down to earth & make it more wearable for day-to-day life: a cropped black knitted cardigan with faux pearl embellishments with matching textured vinyl handbag with faux pearl handles from Review & finally, a pair of shiny black patent leather ankle boots with pointy-toes from Wittner.
