Heading out for the day wearing a vintage Mexican wedding dress that once belonged to a bride in the 1970s... That's what I adore about vintage clothing - the story that comes with each & every piece. I wonder what this particular bride was like & what happened to her; did she have a happy life & happy marriage? Are they still together? Is she still alive? The list of questions is seemingly endless...
But I digress.
Mixing the woven cotton dress with a pair of white leather & silver patent wedges & rectangular silver bag with stud detail & dressing the entire look "up" with gorgeous jewellery pieces - a silver, Swarovski crystal & semi-precious stone cuff, handmade in Paris that was a birthday present a few years ago, a matching Swarovski crystal cocktail ring, chunky vintage silver bracelet with oversized heart lock & teeny tiny key & silver marcasite ring with mother-of-pearl centre.

Celebrating Easter with friends in a vintage, bright blue & white tie dye linen maxi dress with woven tribal neckline detail that I picked up at the Miami Antique Centre while on holidays at the Gold Coast last September, white leather & silver patent wedges & slouchy white leather handbag.
Jewellery was funky, beachy & bohemian - a brushed silver cuff & vintage silver fork-turned-cuff (picked up at the Southbank Markets) on one forearm & a silver & white shell beaded bracelet on the opposite wrist.
All that remained was to add a pair of fabulous clear plastic Wayfarer-style sunglasses & I was good to go... I like to have a few different pairs on hand as they seem to get lost often, only to resurface at the most inopportune times in the most random locations. For example, HOW did they end up in the laundry basket?! The mind boggles...

Yet another "Monochrome Monday" outfit & this time, it's an oldie but a goodie: a five year old plaid cotton shift dress with slightly asymmetrical, bobbled hemline & spotted, contrasting fabric underlay ruffle detail, black patent wedge sandals with white leather straps, slouchy white leather shoulder bag & chunky cloudy, mottled "horn" bracelet. "Before" & "After" shots from my latest trip to the hairdresser.
I left the house wearing a gorgeous camouflage print chiffon trapeze dress with a pair of black patent gladiator sandals & handbag, as well as a chunky, multi-strand ribbon & bead necklace & beaded bracelet that a friend brought back from Portobello Road in London...
I returned, post trim & dye, to cover the straps of the dress with a floaty, jersey & chiffon sleeveless vest from Crossroads, swap the gladiators for a pair of colour-blocked patent sandals from Rivers, remove the beaded bracelet & pin a handmade, vintage "hat" brooch on to finish the look...

Celebrating the Easter long weekend - & the cooler Autumn weather - in a 3/4 sleeved, cream lace jersey maxi dress from my local Tree of Life store with black elastane slip beneath, black suede & rattan wedges with leather ankle straps, woven clutch with a "pop" of bright blue & chunky silver tribal cuff that was a gift from a dear friend a few years ago...

Heading out for dinner with friends in a cobalt blue, floral lace, elastic waist shift with black jersey underlay, black patent platforms with enclosed toe & red patent "lips" clutch, chosen to coincide with the start of the Red My Lips 2015 campaign, where supporters rock red lipstick for the entire month of April to draw attention to the prevalence of sexual violence against women in society & demonstrate solidarity with survivors.
Minimal jewellery was all that was required - 2 black faceted beaded bracelets with a myriad of eclectic charms including an Eiffel Tower from Paris, white pearl with a silver marcasite bow, Indian elephant, high-heeled shoe & selection of brightly-coloured dresses on coat hangers...
