Putting the ART into HEART

Feeling "at one" with this immersive sculpture in Southbank's Cultural Centre forecourt wearing this stunning piece of wearable art from whimsical British label Lace & Beads (via online emporium Asos) with its bright pink hue, red glitter heart patterned mesh & mini dress with puff sleeves silhouette, lipstick red vegan leather deco heels from Kitten D'Amour for a modicum of height & that sweet retro feel, an upcycled vinyl crossbody bag from Country Road to carry all the essentials & finally - carrying on with the heart theme - a Victorian silver belcher bracelet with large heart locket & teeny tiny key from Kellie's Antiques, gifted to me for my 30th birthday by a very dear friend.

Fashion Fairytale

*

Dress: Dream Sister Jane jacquard
Heels: Shoes of Prey leather, glitter

*

In these rather difficult times, there's something beautiful about what I like to call "Fairytale Fashion" (which some people have called Dopamine Dressing) which is basically just swanning about in a rather impractical, usually voluminous dress made from traditionally formal or ornate fabrics such as jacquard, organza or brocade to do everyday things - potter in the garden, see a movie, sit down to a homecooked dinner - & loving every single minute of it! I find that big, flouncy dresses in funky florals such as this utterly amazing white, green & gold jacquard number from British label Dream Sister Jane with its empire waistline, tiny puff sleeves & voluminous hem actually make people feel happy when they see you walking around in them (honestly, they are compliment magnets, particularly around the so-called "fashion" crowd) & I've even taken this one's whimsy factor "up a notch" by adding a pair of gold glitter & white leather pointy-toed wedge heels from Shoes of Prey that I purchased at a discount outlet for an absolute rock-bottom bargain when the company (sadly) folded & that had obviously been designed specifically for someone else's special event but never picked up. They really give off those Franny-from-Brisbane vibes, reminiscent of a certain Kansas farmgirl and her adventures in the wonderful land of Oz, don't you think?
