Finally sharing pictures of an outfit worn on a day much, much warmer than this one (during a heatwave, no less) showcasing a green floral stretch lace City Chic dress that I purchased secondhand for only $8 at the Vinnies op-shop in the small township of Rosewood. I've styled it up for an afternoon spent catching up with the ladies - in air-conditioning - by adding a pair of gold metallic leather heels with woven front by a label called Bresley that I discovered at the delightful Obsession Shoes at the "top of town" in Ipswich, a natural woven straw bucket bag with diamantes from Oh Jo Jo Boutique that goes with ABSOLUTELY everything (honestly... one of the best but most bonkers investments I've ever made; I think the cost per wear must literally be 5c at this point!) & gold bangles on each wrist from Lovisa for that touch of daytime shine that really completes the look.

Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I absolutely adore anything from cult-favourite, independent-thinking Australian designer Gorman & this gorgeous midi dress - aptly named the Seasaw Dress & made from funky sea creature guipure lace with a funnel collar & relaxed silhouette - certainly is a case in point! I've styled it up for an event in my beloved River City with a pair of blue leather stiletto-heeled mules from Alfie & Evie & matching blue vinyl Vera May crossbody bag (both picked up from the delightful Obsession Shoes at the "top of town" in Ipswich) & a stack of sparkly Indian bangles in gold, silver & blue enamel.

Finally sharing all the pictures of an outfit that I styled up to attend a recent performance of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex (QPAC). Despite being written in 1847, the gothic masterpiece depicting the life & passionate romance of spirited & courageous orphan-turned-governess Jane & the brilliant yet brooding Rochester at the foreboding Thornfield Hall remains both searingly relevant & bitingly pertinent for today's audience, dealing with issues of feminism & gender, love & lust, freedom & entrapment, traditionalism versus modernity, as well as the abuse of power within the religious & wider community. This particular iteration - a spectacular rendition faithfully retold yet fiercely original, as expected of the nationally-recognised Shake & Stir Theatre Company - was nothing short of a revelation & in my opinion, certainly did justice to Bronte's original work, interestingly enough first published under the "masculine" nom de plume of Currer Bell.

With all that in mind, I donned a more streamlined silhouette than usual in the form of a vibrant green floral guipure lace shift dress with black satin lining from celebrated Australian designer Anthea Crawford, a pair of black leather heeled sandals with chrome buckles from Jo Mercer, a black vinyl barrel handbag with chrome hardware from French Connection with divine green & blue tie dyed silk scarf (gifted to me by a dear friend who saw it at the Salamanca Markets & thought I would love it) wrapped around the handles for a pop of brightness, a pair of chunky woven chrome bangles from Autograph Fashion & finally, a square cocktail ring made from faceted black onyx that I picked up many years ago now from a store called Inkuku Fair Trade.

I'm posing next to some gorgeous (cherry) blossom trees wearing a classic black floral stretch lace midi dress with flesh-tone satin underlay from Sacha Drake, black leather pointy-toed heels with elastic strap detailing from Wittner, black leather shoulder bag from a funky little boutique called Pigeonhole in the Wintergarden, shiny silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop & a delicate, champagne-hued pearl beaded bracelet with pewter rose bud that some dear friends gave to me for Christmas... shown in detail below...

Here I am posing against our unbelievably lush front hedge wearing a gorgeous black floral guipure lace sheath dress from David Lawrence with gold satin lining & asymmetrical hemline, metallic gold leather pointy-toe heels with ankle straps & gold buckles from Wittner & carrying a soft gold vinyl handbag from Forever New. Jewellery was simple & in keeping with the black & gold theme: a chunky resin hinged bangle from Aussie designer Samantha Wills & beaded wrap bracelet from Thousand Island Dressing in Paddington.
