A slight change of pace from all the voluminous, whimsical & heavily embellished dresses that I usually favour on the blog with this gorgeous, slimline polyblend dress with cap sleeves & waist ruching in THE most divine red rose print from Aussie label Review. I've styled it up for a day out in Brisbane City with a pair of lipstick red vegan leather heels from Kitten D'Amour (the t-bar styling a bonus to elongate my frame), a funky & rather unexpected "Little Red Riding Hood" clutch by artist Dylan Fowler from a little boutique in Bendigo (thanks so much for the souvenir, Louis & Jennie!), a chunky silver "wave" hinged bangle from Precious Stones Jewellers that is fast becoming my everyday option as it goes with absolutely everything I own & finally, a chunky red resin ring from Lovisa that I purchased over ten years ago & kept for just such an occasion...

Red, Red Rose

*

Dress: Anthea Crawford satin-backed crepe
Jacket: Forever New polyblend
Mules: Wittner suede
Bag: Pigeonhole leather

Attending an event in city wearing an Anthea Crawford dress that is not only quite special but a little bit different to my usual look & style. It's timeless & classic. It's black. It's crepe. It's a body-contouring kind of fabric that is cut so it really hugs my curves. Moreover, it has the MOST GORGEOUS strip of red rose embroidered lace across the cold-shoulder neckline for interest. Suffice to say, I absolutely adore it, particularly when mixed with this vibrant red polyblend jacket with fluted sleeves from Forever New & these nonchalant black suede pointy-toed mules with chunky heels from my go-to shoes haven, Wittner & simple black leather handbag from Pigeonhole.

Kiss & Tell

Valentines Day can be a pretty divisive holiday. You either absolutely love it or hate it with a blinding passion, am I right? This year, I started to look at the event in a complete different way, far beyond the commercial one-upmanship...

I looked on it as a celebration of love, whether it be romantic adoration, familial devotion, true friendship, the companionship of pets, community spirit, environmental concern. I took it as an opportunity to recognise humankind's endless capacity for compassion, empathy, mercy & tenderness. I regarded it as a clarion call to try & spread kindness everyday in deeds both big & small... even to those who may not deserve or appreciate it.

Here I am, standing in front of the Kiss & Tell Lips at the newly refurbished Indooroopilly Shoppingtown wearing a gorgeous red rose printed silk/satin midi dress with black tulle underlay for movement, kindly gifted to me by a dear friend; black leather lace-up heeled sandals from Novo; boxy black suede handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection & a gorgeous resin brooch in the shape of Geisha from kitschy label Erstwilder, to complete the ensemble.
