What I love the most about fashion is the pure escapism of being able to "dress up" in absolutely anything your heart desires & feel like a different version of yourself each & every day which, for me, veers widely from whimsical, fairytale silhouettes & fabrics to sedate, timeless classics to relaxed, beachy bohemian.... 

In this case, I'm all dressed up for a fashion event in my beloved River City wearing a sumptuous emerald green organza midi-length smock dress with a high, ruffled neckline, puff sleeves & a ruffled hem from British label Sister Jane, a cropped black leather jacket with a plethora of buttons on the asymmetrical collar from Just Jeans to ward off the chill in the air (17 years & counting... the leather just keeps getting more & more supple), a pair of black vegan leather dual buckle heels from Kitten D'Amour for a modicum of height, a black vinyl & woven satin crossbody bag from Country Road to carry all the essentials including the obligatory hand sanitizer & finally, a matching silver & onyx charm bangle & ring from Pandora to complete the look. Just a note - I took these pictures at the bottom of my backyard, under the mango tree, without a mask so that my Revlon lipstick could see the light of day... this particular shade is called "Rosewine' & is the ultimate fusion of deep red & pink. Although I understand the seriousness of the pandemic & the importance of mask-wearing out in crowded public spaces, a small part of me does periodically yearn for the day when we can all go about our daily business unencumbered & with abandon, especially during the summertime when Queensland's tropical climate can become unbearably hot & humid. Hopefully that day will come sooner rather than later but until it does, I'll just take a few more maskless photographs at home.

Finally sharing all of the beautiful pictures from a mother/daughter morning spent brunching & browsing in my beloved River City. It was so nice to be able to revel in each other's company while looking around some of our best-loved retail destinations before enjoying a leisurely meal at one of our favourite cafes, Stanton in Queens Plaza. For the occasion, I was elated to be able to wear one of my newest sartorial acquisitions - the Amy Red Crepe Wrap Dress from Anthea Crawford with it stunning vibrant hue, faux wrap neckline, gorgeous puff-sleeves, soft tie belt & swishy fluted hem with side split. Lately, I'm really loving dresses in plain, block colours to really make an impact & I've styled this one up with a pair of 1930s-inspired black vegan leather dual buckle heels from Kitten D'Amour, a boxy black vinyl & suede handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection to carry all the essentials including the obligatory hand sanitizer (& a sneaky early Christmas list!), a brushed silver cuff from Wallace Bishop, chunky black resin & silver tribal-style cuff from Mimco via Sherwood Bazaar antique store & finally, a black woven hemp facemask from Oroton to help keep myself & others safe from the pandemic threat.

Making the most of the cooler temperatures & wearing all of the beautiful winter dresses that I've been fortunate enough to add to my collection this year. Case in point: the absolutely divine little number from the recent Anthea Crawford x Van Gogh Museum collaboration, made from comfortable yet stylish stretch mesh with an elastane lining in the "Chinese Asters & Gladioli" print from Vincent's 1886 post-impressionist masterpiece. I've styled it up for an event in my beloved River City with a pair of black matte leather ankle boots from Wittner, a black velvet knot bag from Spanish boutique Swinging Chicks Shop via online emporium Etsy & a matching semi-precious stone & pearl beaded necklace & bracelet set that some dear friends gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

Feeling those 1960s vibes in a gorgeous floral stretch bengaline midi dress with cap sleeves & amazing rolled collar from Australian label Sacha Drake, cinched in with a wide black patent leather & elastic belt from HellBunny via That Shop & topped with a vibrant blue knitted cardigan - cropped at the smallest part of my waist - from Kitten D'Amour that picks up on the pop of blue inherent in the dress' floral print. When it came to accessories, I donned a pair of black vegan leather dual buckle heels (also from Kitten) to elongate my legs & finished the look with a funky, upcycled ice-skating bear brooch that I discovered at the delightful Vintage Advantage store in my hometown - the Polar Ice Company was an Ipswich institution for more than fifty years before its closure last year & I'm happy to be "keeping the magic alive" in some small way...
