If there's one thing I love, it's a fictional murder mystery set during the roaring twenties or the war years... In fact, one of my all-time favourite television shows is "Foyle's War," where Michael Kitchen plays a detective solving crimes in Hastings in Sussex, England during World War Two. Thus, the opportunity to travel to a stately home to partake in a How to Host A Murder depicting what it would have been like to live in Brisbane during the "war years" (well, you know, with a bit of creative license) was a chance not to be missed!
Avid readers of this blog will already know that I never miss the chance to dress the part, so for this occasion, I donned a gorgeous floral fit-to-flare twill midi dress from Anthea Crawford, vintage stretch lace three-quarter-sleeve cardigan that once belonged to my Great Grandmother, khaki long-line anorak by Mia to ward off the chill of the morning, shiny black patent lace-up ankle boots from Wittner & duck-egg-blue vinyl handbag with black piping from Forever New to carry all of my essentials. When it came to accessories, I kept it simple - a chunky Victorian silver bracelet with oversized heart locket & teeny tiny key from Kellie's Antiques (gifted to me by a dear friend) & vintage cutlery-turned-boutonniere brooch from Gone Dotti at the Southbank Markets & finally, a jaunty vintage wool hat with grosgrain ribbon & diamante detail.
