Finally posting pictures of the outfit I wore to attend an event celebrating all things All Creatures Great & Small... the 1970s television show starring Robert Hardy, Christopher Timothy & Peter Davison, that is! Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I love British television & this comedy/drama - based on the books by real-life Yorkshire veterinarian Alf Wight - is one of the BEST! It chronicles the life of young veterinarian James Herriot as he works for the eccentric Siegfried Farnon at Skeldale House, in the process becoming best friends with Siegfried's his ne'er-do-well brother Tristan (who has trouble passing his veterinary exams due to an excess of boozing, smoking & carousing), meeting the love of his life, wealthy farmer's daughter Helen Alderson & treating the infamous Tricky Woo, a spoilt pekingese (with an aristocratic owner) who is prone to overeating. Honestly, if you have the chance, it really IS worth watching.

But I digress.

Such a special occasion required a superlative outfit, but the event's rustic outdoor setting caused me to rethink what I had originally planned... & resulted in a look so striking & versatile, it was even suitable for walking my own "creature" - spoilt spoodle Huckleberry - that afternoon. Voila! A symphony in red & blush comprising of this gorgeous stretch lace fit-to-flare dress from Montique with high pleated neckline, nipped-in waist & sweet floaty hem; vivid nylon anorak with press-stud detail from Rockmans to ward off the chill in the air; blush suede sport-luxe boots with velcro & stud detailing from Forever New & matching vinyl blush handbag to carry all of the essentials! Check them out in detail below:

Jewellery was kept simple & within the same colour palette - a pair of silver cuffs with handmade fabric flowers in red & gold that I picked up from a little stall at the Southbank Markets many years ago.

If having a soul means being able to feel love & loyalty & gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.

James Herriot
