Rural Idyll

Keeping it simple & ever-so-slightly retro in these gorgeous pictures, taken at a local park that really is like stepping into another world, a peaceful rural idyll in the middle of a busy cityscape. I'm posing under the gum trees wearing a gorgeous black & blue floral cotton 50s fit-to-flare midi dress from Retrospec'd, blue woven silk cropped cardigan from Kitten D'Amour to ward off the slight chill in the air & a pair of black matte & patent leather loafers from Pitillos that I picked up in a recent sale at Obsession Shoes at the "top of town" in Ipswich for the perfect fusion of comfort & style.

Revisiting the 1990s with fashion this season... I'm leaning right into this new/old grunge trend & reveling in all the moody vibes by stomping around a local park wearing a dark floral chiffon v-neck pleated mini dress from Forever New that I've cinched in with a satin & elastic bow belt from That Shop, a pair of black matte leather booties from Wittner for height, black 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty & a black vinyl shoulder bag from Sussan to carry all the essentials. When it came to jewellery, I chose some vintage silver pieces - a single vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles (formerly of Coolangatta, now of Tweed Heads) & a stack of Mexican silver bangles that were given to me by some friends who now reside overseas.

Pastoral scenes in Australian bushland have become kind of my forte over the pandemic years & I'm still leaning into the trend in a big way... This time, I'm wearing a sweet heart-embroidered-organza puff-sleeve mini smock dress from whimsical British label Dream Sister Jane as I traipse around a stunning piece of parkland near my home where, in between the dull roar of cars driving by, you could be forgiven for thinking you were a million miles away from suburbia as the birds warble & the smell of eucalyptus fills the air. I've styled it up for the season with a pair of bright purple vegan leather slingback heels from cult Australian label Gorman (otherwise known as my Daisy Duck shoes), a funky monochrome vegan leather handbag with "Biscuit Shop" embellishments from a Vendula London via Mott & Mulberry boutique in Indooroopilly to carry all the essentials including the ever-present hand sanitizer & facemask, a single vintage brass bangle from America that I discovered at The Way We Wore Vintage Fair more than a decade ago & finally, for the perfect finishing flourish, a natural woven straw boater-style sunhat with black grosgrain ribbon strap from Forever New.
