It's now halfway through "Spooky Season" & my Halloween celebrations are in full force... well, as much as I am willing to do as an Aussie who never really celebrated what was always either an English or American holiday while I was growing up. Regardless, I've decorated the front room, dining room & kitchen with a few scary little decorations, have binge-watched a substantial amount of horror movies & television shows on a variety of streaming services including Netflix, Amazon Prime & Disney + & have sorted out a few easy-to-assemble costumes that truly get into the spirit of the holiday... It's all a bit of fun, really & quite frankly, in these pandemic-ridden times, who doesn't want a modicum of that to get through each day?!
This costume has a bit of a Wednesday-Addams-meets-Funnybones vibe that I'm really loving & comprises of a black stretch cotton pique mini dress with shirred bodice & oversized white polyblend ruffled collar from whimsical British label Sister Jane, a pair of black matte leather ankle boots from Wittner to add height & elongate my frame, a pair of black nylon footless tights with white "skeleton" bones on them from online emporium Discount Party Supplies, a "skeleton" polyblend facemask from Daiso & finally, an orange plastic bucket with a Jack O'Lantern face on it from my local Go Dollars discount store to put all of my candy in when All Hallows Eve finally arrives!

It tells the story of a strange fog that sweeps over an island town on its Founders Day weekend, bringing with it the vengeful spirits of mariners who were murdered there a hundred years earlier...
2 I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021-)
A modern take on the 1997 film starring Jennifer Love Hewitt & Freddie Prinze Jr (personally a high school favourite of mine), it follows a group of friends who are stalked by a brutal killer one year after covering up a car accident in which they killed someone.
3 Scream Queens (2015-2016)
A satirical comedy/slasher television series, the first season takes place at the fictional Wallace University & chronicles the sorority Kappa Kappa Tau & its evil, "rich bitch" leader Chanel Oberlin, which is plagued by a serial killer - hell bent on revenge for something that happened nearly 20 years ago - wearing the school's "Red Devil" mascot costume as a disguise.
4 Friday 13th (1980)
The independent slasher film that gave rise to a million sequels - well, more like 9 or 10 - it follows the story of a group of teenage camp counsellors who are murdered one by one by an unknown killer while attempting to re-open an abandoned summer camp.
5 Hubie Halloween (2020)
More stupid than scary, it's an American comedy/horror flick starring Adam Sandler that tells the tale of a Halloween-loving delicatessen worker who, despite being an outcast that is derided by his fellow townspeople, sets out to save Salem from a terrifying kidnapper.
