It's safe to say that life has changed quite dramatically since Covid 19 entered our collective experience just over a year ago & for me, one of the biggest changes has been in what I used to do to pass the time, for recreation & for fun. I have always appreciated beautiful, verdant gardens & backyards & have visited & enjoyed many public greenspaces in my time but, quite honestly, I never really stopped to think about everything that goes into their creation & maintenance, preferring instead to partake in more indoor pursuits including reading, movies, window shopping & antiquing. While I still adore these things & can't wait to head out with friends & family in a post Coronavirus world, I have begun to really feel "at home" in a nursery, choosing plants, flowers & ornaments for my "little piece of earth," as Mary Lennox would says in Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden. This first look (worn on an overcast day in South East Queensland) is predominantly made up of items from Aussie label Princess Highway - a gorgeous floral cotton poplin mini smock with dainty puff sleeves in shades of purple, coral, orange & beige, a pair of orange faux snakeskin vegan leather sandals & a natural woven straw handbag, augmented with a coral silk/satin corsage from French-inspired boutique Kitten D'Amour to complete the look.

This second look (donned on a much warmer, much sunnier morning) is altogether edgier than the first, centred around a baby blue, cotton poplin A-line shirtdress with white collar & cuffs from celebrated eco-friendly Aussie designer Lee Mathews, known for rather classic & utilitarian silhouettes with a twist. I've styled it up with a pair of silver & white laser-cut leather lace-up (say THAT three times fast!) sandals from Django & Juliette via Styletread (an online shoe emporium with the BEST deals on the biggest brands), a white painted cane handbag from Renee Loves Frances & a silver art deco style "wave" hinged bangle from the lovely ladies at Precious Stones Jewellers in the Myer Centre.
