Nope, I'm not not unhappy in these photographs... far from it, actually, I was reveling in the freedom of being out & about in the Saturday morning sunshine in my beloved River City without a mask on... the title of this blog post is actually in reference to the amazing street art behind me in these outfit pictures, taken on the street in Wooloongabba that depicts the raucous, live-music-centered nightlife that the area is famous for. On this particular day I was happily shopping for more antiques to add to my collection from the imitable Jubilee Antiques as well as sneaking a cheeky piping hot chai latte from Grinders Coffee before heading to a belated Mothers Day lunch with the family across town at The Old Seven in Camp Hill. For the occasion, I donned a gorgeous blue textured floral jacquard tiered midi dress with puff sleeves from YAS via Asos, a black mesh cardigan with 3/4 sleeves & tie front from a store called Leaf (sadly now defunct), a pair of black leather lace-up pointy-toed heels from Aussie shoe label Wittner, a natural woven straw handbag with black leather handle from Witchery & finally, a matching vintage plaster sun pendant & bangle from Beautiful Pangea's gorgeous online boutique, generously gifted to me by some dear friends... Truth be told, I'm loving the pop of bright gold paint against the vibrant blue of the dress...

Ambling around in my back garden wearing the Daubigny's Garden Dress (a work depicting the enclosed garden of Charles-Francoise Daubigny, a fellow painter Van Gogh greatly admired) from Anthea Crawford's recent collaboration with Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum on a capsule collection that is very clearly what dreams are made of... particularly if you're a European art enthusiast like me! Literally wearable art, this utterly divine dress, with its green & pink floral print, soft chiffon fabric in a 1930s style silhouette with floaty midi-length hem, scarf tie neckline & slightly puffed 3/4 sleeves with black lace cuffs (to imitate an artwork's frame) is the most wonderful investment piece, something collectible that can be worn for many years to come & looks great simply paired with shiny black patent ankle boots from celebrated Aussie shoe label Wittner & a black velvet knot bag from Spanish boutique Swinging Chicks Shop on Etsy for the Queensland winter.

Back in black (any other AC/DC fans out there?) for a day spent at Southbank Parklands & the Cultural Precinct with a dear friend. I'm swanning around in the winter sunshine in a stunning textured floral jacquard mini smock with puff sleeves from whimsical British label Sister Jane, styled up with a pair of monochrome vegan leather heels & a natural woven straw handbag with black beaded handles from Kitten D'Amour, a silver hinged bangle in the shape of a wave from the lovely ladies at Precious Stones Jewellers in the Myer Centre, a thin silver hinged bangle that I purchased years & years ago from Oxfam's (sadly now defunct) Indooroopilly store to wear with my high school formal dress & finally, a large resin monochrome "cameo" cocktail ring replete with image of the Virgin Mary that was gifted by a dear friend who lives overseas.
