You know those places that you never get tired of no matter how often you visit? The ones that make you feel happy from the moment you arrive & sad when the times comes to leave? For me, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is one of those place & I was more than happy to return for the second time in a month with my cousin, her husband & ten-month-old son for Sweet Baby James' first-ever visit!

A cold & misty July morning gave way to a bright sunny day that was perfect for rainbow lorikeet encounters, koala cuddling, kangaroo hand feeding, platypus watching, dingo gazing, cockatoo/corella/parrot/galah observation & dining in the open, eucalyptus-scented air with some of Australia's most beloved marsupials surrounding us...

This " family day out" in the Great Outdoors required a layered, smart-casual ensemble & this vibrant, orchid print jersey dress from Anthea Crawford was the ideal base. With its slight v-neckline & draped bust detail, it really was a sight to behold. Here it is in all its glory...

Bringing a casual, almost "sporty" vibe to the look was the top layer - this "puffer" jacket from the athletic range at my local Kmart store; the pink hue lending a "girly" & sophisticated touch to a garment usually warm with gym gear, jeans or cargo pants instead of dresses. The pink duck-down padding & fold-out hood kept me "toasty" warm, while a bohemian, pattern-mixed, woven cotton scarf from the Sussan sale kept any sneaky riverside breezes at bay.

As usual, my bright & colourful outfit was "anchored" by black accessories - a pair of patent, wedge-heeled brogues from Ziera, matching boxy Novo handbag, 40 denier Razzamatazz tights & a black straw bowler hat with animal ears from Dangerfield to ward off the harmful rays of the Queensland sun... you'll have to keep scrolling to catch a glimpse of it later...

Due to the nature of the day's activities, jewellery was kept to a bare minimum - a handmade silver & painted ceramic flower ring that my cousin made for me at her weekend ceramics class. It was all I needed for a tiny bit of "fuss-free" embellishment.

Now that all the outfit details are out of the way, check out how the day unfolded...
