If you're an avid reader of this blog, you'll probably already know that I absolutely adore prints (particularly large-scale florals) but sometimes, it's nice to "tone it down" so to speak & wear something in a stunning block colour with a funky textural element. Case in point: this utterly divine cobalt blue, floral-embroidered-chiffon empire-line midi dress with a comfortable jersey lining & heavily embellished tie belt from Australian designer Sacha Drake, worn to attend a recent performance of "Round the Twist: The Musical" that my child of the late 80s & 90s soul just HAD to attend (& it was amazing & nostalgic & all those good things, just as expected). I've styled it up for QPAC with a pair of black leather pointy-toed heels with laces from Wittner for a modicum of height, a cylindrical black vinyl shoulder bag from a little boutique called Beach n Beyond at The Strand in Coolangatta to carry all the essentials & some favourite silver jewellery pieces - a stack of vintage Mexican silver bangles that some dear friends gave me, a single vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that was a thoughtful birthday gift from my brother a few years ago & finally, a brushed silver cuff from beloved Aussie jeweller Wallace Bishop to complete the look & add some daytime shine to complement the rather outre belt option.

They don't call it a "rainy season" for nothing! Finally sharing all the gorgeous pictures from a rainy old morning antiquing in the beautiful Oxley/Sherwood area at some of my favourite little spots! For the occasion, I'm wearing this gorgeous floral print cotton poplin 50s-style midi dress with thin patent belt from "girly" Australian label Review, styled up with a white mesh waterfall cardigan from Yarra Trail to ward off the unseasonable chill in the air, a pair of white leather pointy-toed mules with wooden heels from Country Road, a natural woven paper shoulder bag from Sussan to carry all the essentials & a stack of handmade resin bangles from Hive Marketplace to complete the look.

Vintage in the Garden

Dress: Retro Metro Paddington vintage crepe
Sandals: Vintage leather, elastic (from Ebay)
Hat: Seed Heritage woven straw

In the summertime, nothing beats 1970s floral patterns for fun & frivolity when getting dressed. With that in mind, I styled up this gorgeous 1970s floral print crepe maxi dress with cape detailing that I picked up from the treasure trove that is Retro Metro Paddington with a pair of vintage 1990s chocolate brown leather & elastic sandals that I found on Ebay for an absolute steal & a woven straw sunhat from Seed Heritage to complete the look & keep the sun off my face.
