Memorialise

A misty morning spent in town, taking some pictures at the beautiful, sacred war memorial in Baines Park, Limestone Street, Ipswich. In the summertime, this area is awash with bright red blooms from the trees but during the winter, it hits a more solemn note. What I love about our town/city is the way that we take such care with the memories of those who lost their lives in service of our country & who gave their lives fighting for our freedom in many conflicts around the world. This specific memorial - originally located at the intersection of Burnett & Brisbane Streets before being moved to its current location in 1967 - loving honours "Our Boys" who lost their lives fighting "For King & Country" in the Great War 1914-1919.

Lately

Trying out all the crazy (but brilliant) outfit combinations in front of my trusty full-length mirror in the garage! This time, it's a stunning floral brocade princess line midi dress from Review with a sparkly lurex number from Dangerfield over the top, a pair of black leather lace-up heels from Jo Mercer for a modicum of height & a funky, bohemian patchwork cotton crossbody bag from the EcoCentric Sisters boutique at Ripley to complete the look & pick up on the blues & purples inherent within the dress print...

Trying out this sweet little silk mushroom hat from Sarah's Silks via Oskar's Wooden Ark online emporium & absolutely loving the cottagecore vibes...

Relishing the last of the warm, late Autumn days with a gorgeous floral neoprene midi dress with racer-back & faux wrap detailing from Portmans (more than 5 years old & still a fave), styled up with a pair of navy leather lace-up heels from Midas, a natural woven straw bucket bag with diamantes from the delightful Oh Jo Jo Boutique at the "top of town" in Ipswich, a trio of sparkly gold & silver Indian bangles & a silver hinged bangle with oversized gold scarab beetle clasp that a dear friend purchased at MOMA in the 1990s & passed on to me...

I love it when a plan comes together...

Mirror selfies a-plenty in this stunning outfit - green textured viscose midi smock dress from Asos Edition with sparkly silver lurex number from Dangerfield over the top for added texture & interest, a pair of black leather lace-up heels from Jo Mercer (yes, I wear these beautiful babies A LOT) & a large silver & resin frog brooch that once belonged to the mother of some dear family friends who collected anything & everything to do with frogs... wearing this & thinking of you, Heather...

Animal print is a neutral... or so they say! Donning this amazing leopard print cotton shirred maxi dress with crazy oversized collar detailing from Kachel & rocking it with a pair of white leather sneakers with black patent stripes (the original & the best) from Adidas & a funky Erstwilder metal "Catman Miranda" brooch from the GOMA Gift Shop...

Heart print sweetness from Sister Jane via Hummingbird the Shop, styled up with a pair of black leather heeled booties from Wittner, a black nylon 90s style shoulder bag from Sussan & eclectic, colourful thread bangles from my local Tree of Life store that I've probably had for at least 10 years now & never fail to add that splash of colour to any outfit...

Legitimately a sucker for those caramelised, crumbly biscuits they hand out in plastic packets at conferences & lectures... I know, I just can't help it...
