And remember, if you don't want to miss a thing, start following me on Instagram!

All dressed up to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles' "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with a dear friend from England in a vintage 1960s gold dupione silk three-quarter-sleeved shift dress with heavily embellished neckline & cuffs, black woolen knitted snood from a boutique called Orange Sherbet in Redcliffe, black patent ankle boots from Wittner with 40 denier matte tights from Razzamatazz & finally, a burgundy vinyl crossbody bag with gold hardware from Forever New to carry all the essentials while keeping my hands free.

What's your favourite track from the celebrated record?
Mine has always been "With A Little Help from my Friends."

Make-up free after a morning spent at the physiotherapist for my jaw. Once again, pattern mixing was on the agenda: a large-scale floral printed twill dress from Anthea Crawford & small-scale botanical printed satin bomber jacket from Forever New. Also on the agenda: a sneaky little lunch at one of my all-time favourites, Passion Tree Velvet at the newly refurbished Indooroopilly Shoppingtown.

Another thoughtful gift from my younger brother...

R-E-D is not a colour that I wear often (truth be told, I'm more partial to cooler hues like blue & green) but this gorgeous floral stretch lace number from Montique was too good to resist... particularly when styled up with a cropped black leather jacket from Portmans, shiny patent loafers with silver tabs from Wittner, a patent leather handbag from Vera May, a chunky black onyx ring from Inkuku Fair Trade & a sweet little resin flower ring from a now-defunct boutique in my hometown.

Can't be all dressed up with nowhere to go, so it has to be a delicious Yum Cha dinner!

Put in jail for crimes against fashion?

Not this time! I'm just posing in front of the hilarious poster advertising "Despicable Me 3" at my local cinema... on my way to see another film, no less. Once again the Queensland weather proved difficult to dress for (hence the woolly jumper & bare legs) but I managed to style up a gorgeous ensemble in shades of black, grey, mauve & silver. The vintage-style coated cotton empire-line midi dress from Jayson Brunsdon Black Label at Myer is given a more modern feel with the inclusion of silver 3D leaf embellishments & works well with the classic woolly mohair jumper in a pale shade of grey, handmade in the Outer Hebrides & brought to Australia for me by a dear friend; black patent leather loafers with silver tabs from Wittner add a bit of daytime shine & a soft mauve vinyl handbag with silver hardware from Forever New works as a subtle "pop" of colour. Jewellery was kept simple, yet effective - a matching silver & onyx charm bracelet & ring from the perennially popular Pandora

I was so excited to see the film adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's masterpiece, "My Cousin Rachel" & it really didn't disappoint. Some viewers may feel that it was a slow starter but I considered that to be the director's way to increase intrigue & create tension... a tactic that clearly worked its magic as I'm still wondering whether Rachel actually WAS evil or merely the misunderstood victim of the fevered minds of the Ashley men? Cue a re-reading of the tome & some deep discussion with my Gothic mystery loving movie companion, pictured with me above...

And of course, there's nothing better after seeing a good film than enjoying a good meal!
Passion Tree Velvet is one of my all-time favourite destinations for a quick bite - I particularly love the Tuna, Cucumber & Mayonnaise Baguette washed down with a Raspberry Soda replete with mint leaves... & followed by a Pistachio Macaroon...

Rather than the Tuna Baguette, Joanne opted for the Smashed Avocado & Fetta on Sourdough Toast... apparently it is also delicious!

A Trip to the Orient

*

Dress: Anthea Crawford dupione silk
Coat: Vintage, Chinese silk
Heels: Wittner suede & elastic
Bag: Vintage, carved nut & leather
Necklace: Vintage, beads & carved wood

*

Avid readers of this blog would probably already be aware that a dear friend of mine from England has recently been in town & that we had the pleasure of attending a few elegant social events together, one of which was an archaeological lecture he was presenting, where I wore this gorgeous oriental-inspired ensemble.

The look itself is relatively simple - five pieces in all - but made quite a statement due to the use of vivid shades of purple & green, anchored with accents of black. I started styling with this gorgeous dupione silk fit-to-flare midi-length dress from Anthea Crawford then added a small-scale floral printed oriental silk coat with three-quarter-sleeves & Peter Pan collar detail (gifted by a dear friend) to ward off the wintertime chill, slipped my feet into a pair of comfortable yet fashionable Mary Jane style suede heels with ballerina-style elastic straps from Wittner & carried a kitschy handbag carved from a nut with a 1970s style leather clasp. To complete the look, I added a chunky green stone & cloisonne beaded necklace with carved wood pendant that I picked up at a recent Antique Fair in my hometown. Voila!

Scroll down for a peek at the look without the jacket...
