Avid readers of this blog have probably already realised that I favour "cooler" colours in jewel-toned shades, so the theme for my second official Christmas Party of 2015 - "Blue Christmas" - played right into my wheelhouse! Clearly the entire ensemble centered around this divine fit-to-flare creation by Anthea Crawford in a vivid shade of the hue in question, secured with a grosgrain ribbon & covered in delicate mesh & floral guipure lace with a modified "sweetheart" neckline, cap sleeves & a slightly-below-the-knee hemline...

When it came to accessories, black was selected to "anchor" the outfit - a simple pair of enclosed patent platforms from Emerson at Big W that really allowed the other details to shine & a funky, unexpected vintage handbag (a gift from a dear friend in India) made from a carved nut with a strap sewn from leather off-cuts for an "earthy" touch that added a bit of edge to an otherwise "sweet" and "proper" look.

Edgy tribal elements were also inherent in the choice of jewellery - a pair of Oxfam bracelets made from beads in differing shades of blue, silver & chrome as well as a sculptural vintage cuff (yet another thoughtful gift) made from silver & semi-precious stones that took up almost my ENTIRE forearm! Check out these amazing pieces of craftsmanship below:

And it wouldn't be a Christmas Party without presents!

Not only was Santa good to me, gifting me this stunning light-up wreath that I promptly turned upside down & filled with an angel statue - gorgeous when all the lights are out & the harp is lit up from below - but the same ebullient friend who so generously gave me the bag & cuff that I wore to the event also surprised me with a HUGE plush free-standing giraffe with a big bow around its neck! Scroll down for a peek...
