Avid readers of this blog know that I love pretty much everything about the festive season - not the Queensland weather, I'd much prefer it was a "White Christmas" - but when it comes to the tippity top of the list, there is only 1 word: traditions. Every year I look forward to putting up the Christmas Tree as a family, playing my favourite Christmas records on repeat to hear the dulcet tones of Bing Crosby & Perry Como dreaming of a "Winter Wonderland" & spending some mother/daughter time baking up a storm for family & friends using Aunty Shirley's recipes for Rum Balls, Apricot Balls & Rocky Road... Another special yearly event is attending the ballet performance of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker with some dear friends. For more details about the classic tale of young Clara & her wonderful Nutcracker toy - first performed in 1892 - click here to check out last year's blog post.

Although it was a smart casual event, I still wanted to look special for the occasion & this stunning 50s inspired Anthea Crawford dress fitted the bill. The navy stretch jersey top, with its low back detail, gave way to a full, blue & white floral jacquard skirt (with layers of tulle beneath for shape & swing) & a ribbon belt with beaded leaf "buckle" detail added some subtle daytime sparkle.

Rather than my usual platforms, I donned a pair of silver leather sandals with stacked kitten heels & embellished t-bar strap detail by Bare Traps, found on a shopping expedition last year when the Simona Ricci store first opened at Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre. To match, I carried a shiny vinyl Adorne handbag - a boxy rectangle shape with studded ends that I picked up in last year's Boxing Day Sales. Jewellery was structural & minimal - a silver hinged bangle from the now-defunct Mei Mei store at Garden City Shopping Centre in the shape of a flower with diamante stigma on one arm & a chunky silver cuff with "snail circle" detail on the other. It appears to be handmade & was a gift from a close friend who presently lives in India.
