Santa's Little Helper

Yep, there I was in full Christmas Elf mode, helping Santa wrap presents to be delivered to all good boys & girls on Christmas Eve... or I was just at my local David Jones store, enjoying the festivities in the toy department along with a LOT of other intrepid gift shoppers... And while I love stripes, I'm just not sure about the whole "skintight leggings with grey turtleneck & cropped vest, topped off with a matching hat" deal, so below are pictures of what I REALLY wore - no bow tie in sight!

For a day spent Mother/Daughter Christmas shopping (well, finishing off a few bits & bobs is more like it) this Anthea Crawford dress was just the ticket with its easy-peasy, ultra-flattering square shape - slashed bateau neckline, pleated waist & slightly-below-the-knee-hemline - in a vibrant floral printed satin fabrication.

Black accessories were on hand to "anchor" the look & add some edge - a pair of matte leather gladiator sandals with elastic sides & buckled ankle straps from Novo & a boxy, vinyl handbag from Sportsgirl with silver hardware details. Check out the fierceness below:

When it came to jewellery, it was time to up the "edge" factor even more with some matching sculptural pieces, part of my Christmas present from a dear friend who currently lives in India - two chunky cuffs fashioned from many thin pieces of silver "twine," one inset with purple-hued semi-precious stones & the piece de resistance: the matching leaf-shaped necklace with black leather cord! Scroll down to see the detail:
