Channeling Audrey Hepburn's lauded style for another #monochromemonday.
Wearing a white lace, faux-tiered shift from Liz Jordan @ Noni B with sweet three-quarter sleeves, sky-high pair of black suede booties with side zippers (bought for the princely sum of $5 at my local Big W store), a chrome "snake" wrap around bracelet with diamante ends & the piece de resistance: a funky little chrome clutch with a picture of Audrey dressed as Holly Golightly in the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's film.

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."

Some insightful Audrey wisdom for a Monday morning...

Running errands in a funky & comfortable Anthea Crawford jersey dress in a vivid, tribal pattern, grey suede wedges with silver & rose gold studs on the toes, a boxy black patent handbag & a statement "diamond" necklace from Adorne, bought in the recent sale for only $5. Love a bargain like that!

LEST WE FORGET

Paying homage to our brave ANZACS & thanking them for their sacrifice on April 25. Wearing a poppy-printed Anthea Crawford dress in 3D textured jacquard, a pair of black suede L&J peeptoe platforms & a Corelli studded clutch, as well as the all-important ANZAC Day badges - the famous Flanders' Fields poppies (both resin & felt) & Simpson & his Donkey Gallipoli 100 Year Commemoration options.

"In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place & in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly..."

John McCrae, 1915

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun & in the morning, we will remember them."

Ode of Remembrance
Originally taken from For the Fallen by British poet Lawrence Binyon in 1914.

Shopping trip ready in a vibrant, rainforest-print jersey Anthea Crawford empire-line dress with cowl neckline detail, mixed with a hot pink mesh three-quarter sleeved tie-front cardigan from Frenzy (sourced at my local Trade Secret store), trusty black patent gladiator flats - & matching black patent bag from Novo that somehow missed the picture - & a couple of silver rings from Sportsgirl

Loving the combo of the teeny-tiny flower & teeny-tiny pineapple on neighbouring fingers...

Dress: Gift, vintage Mexican wool & embroidery
Sandals: Soft Soul @ Myer leather & patent
Hinged Bangle: Wallace Bishop silver & elastic
Bangle: Gift, vintage silver & semi-precious stones

Feeling bright in a vintage, yellow wool Mexican midi-dress from the 1960s with square lace neckline, angel-wing sleeves & loom & hand-embroidery all over! Black & white leather & patent wedge sandals work perfectly with both the dress' length & colour palette, while the pair of silver bangles - one hinged, one not - provide shine & the vintage semi-precious stones on one add another dimension to the look by bringing in more shades of red & blue.

Check out the gorgeous hand-embroidered people on the bottom half of the dress...
I absolutely LOVE artisan details like this as they REALLY make a look unique.

Dress: Ankoaa cotton
Cardigan: Thredz mesh
Sandals: Soft Soul @ Myer leather
Bag: LouenHide leather
Bangle: Gift, vintage silver & semi-precious stones

*

Enjoying one of the (hopefully) last few warm Autumn days before the Westerly winds bring cooler temperatures to South East Queensland in a pattern-mixed cotton maxidress with tie-front yoke from Ankoaa, three-quarter-sleeved mesh cardigan from Thredz (they are surprisingly warm!), a pair of white & silver leather wedge sandals & a slouchy, white leather LouenHide shoulder bag that I picked up from DFO Jindalee for a FRACTION of the actual cost! Completing the ensemble was a single bangle - a vintage piece that was given to me as a birthday present by a dear friend who lives in India - silver with blue & red semi-precious stones, the perfect colours to blend in with the dress' relaxed, "worn-in" shades...

Seeing as this IS Queensland after all, there did come a time when it was necessary to shed the cardigan, but luckily the dress underneath was just as beautiful on its own... so beautiful, in fact, that I just couldn't face cutting it off to make it height-appropriate for my 5 foot frame, so I did the old "rubber band" trick & gathered it on one side... Check out my handiwork below:

"...for the children & the flowers are my sisters & my brothers, their laughter & their loveliness could clear a cloudy day; & the song that I am singing is a prayer to non-believers, come & stand beside us, we can find a better way..."

Rhymes & Reasons - John Denver (1971)

Capturing true feelings in song...
