Calling Elvis

Well, it's one for money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Now go, cat, go

But don't you, step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anthing but lay off of my blue suede shoes

The impetus for an outfit can be many different things - that certain dress you've been saving for a day when you're feeling exceptionally thin or that jacket that has been waiting for cooler weather, even that piece of jewellery that you were given for your birthday that you've been holding onto for a special occasion.

In this case, I decided to channel Elvis with an outfit built around a pair of cobalt suede pointy-toed pumps... though I do prefer him as a surfer boy in Blue Hawaii, truth be told...

Finding a dress that worked with the shoe choice was a no-brainer: this Anthea Crawford jacquard number in a slightly lighter shade of blue toned in remarkably well, the colour beneath the "texture" an exact match. Despite the pleating detail, an elasticised belt was required to cinch in the dress, providing shape & waist definition. This touch of black & silver was then echoed in the handbag - a circular Vera May patent option with hand-painted cottage-with-cat picture on each side, the bluebells around the letterbox a tiny nod to the hue of the day.

Jewellery was kept to a minimum - two sculptural pieces enough to make quite a statement - with a chunky silver hinged bangle on one forearm & an avant-garde cuff with curved edge on the other.

And all this for a meeting today in Woolloongabba, the details of which will be revealed in the New Year... It would appear that exciting times are ahead for Franny Gets Frocked!
