Showtime

So excited to be sharing photographs of this year's Ipswich Show with all you lovely readers... well, part one, anyway... It's something of a tradition for my mother & I to attend on Friday (otherwise known as "people's day" where the school children in the area have been given a holiday to come & show their community spirit) & explore all the cultural aspects of the show such as the schoolwork, artwork, photography, quiliting, needlework, cookery, cake decorating as well as the farming & agricultural displays including the baby animal nursery, chickens, ducks & pigeons... before sitting down to watch ring events including the Kaos FMX (that's Freestyle Motor Cross to the uninitiated) stunt show while tucking into a Sausage & Onion Roll with BBQ sauce from the Rotary van. Then I do it all again on Sunday with friends, except we mostly stick to Sideshow Alley (particularly the dodgem cars) & the many market stalls selling all manner of lollies & fudge... but you'll have to wait for part two for that!

For the occasion - an unseasonably warm & sunny day for late Autumn - I donned a relaxed, pleated shift dress (above the knee for that 1960s vibe) with bateau neckline in natty polka dotted crepe from celebrated Aussie label Zimmermann, white floral embroidered mesh duster jacket from Orange Sherbet that I picked up on recent jaunt to Redcliffe for a bohemian edge, comfortable & sturdy black leather biker boots with embroidered white abstract faces from Wittner & a nylon & textured vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Nautica to keep my hands free while carrying all the essentials. Jewellery was kept simple - a pair of handmade silver bangles from the Abbey Museum Medieval Fair for some daytime shine.

Scroll down to see how the rest of the morning unfolded...
