Jazz Age

*

I'm so excited to share with you, lovely readers, one of the best outfits that I have "styled up" in a long time... Yes, I was a "lady in red" for a night out with my cousin to the Brisbane Jazz Club, inadvertently matching with the venue & feeling very Phryne Fisher, as you'll see below. I'm wearing a vibrant red floral guipure lace "wiggle dress" with midi-length hemline & cold shoulder detailing from Anthea Crawford, matching retro-style red satin kitten heels with black glitter "lace up" accents from sensual French-inspired label Kitten D'Amour & a small black leather shoulder bag from a funky little store called Pigeonhole in The Wintergarden on the Queen Street Mall to hold all the essentials. To keep the look from becoming too "costume-y" I chose bohemian jewellery pieces for an eccentric juxtaposition: a rustic Tibetan silver bracelet that I picked up from a little boutique in Maleny this time last year & a chunky garnet stone cocktail ring from a little shop called Temporal Dreamer, found on Etsy.

All in all, it was a great experience with the Brisbane Contemporary Jazz Orchestra's combination of scintillating Latin American beats & Glenn Miller style "big band" arrangements really setting pulses racing & keeping listeners entertained right up until the very last note. For those who are interested, scroll down for a few more photographs, as well as a peek at the stunning views from the venue & a look at our delicious dinner options, courtesy of the Story Bridge Hotel, washed down with drinks from the fully-stocked wine & cocktail bar...
