If you read yesterday's blog, you'll know that this year, I was lucky enough to attend Buddha's Birthday Festival at Southbank Parklands twice - once on Friday night with my friend Fionnula & again on Sunday morning with my parents after being effectively "rained out" on our usual Saturday afternoon jaunt. That being said, we were not only be blessed with stunning, cloudless skies but were fortunate enough to able to experience the cultural parade snaking its way from the Brisbane sign, past the Wheel of Brisbane & under the Bougainvillea Arches until it culminated in a moving Thanksgiving Service for the Buddha's good thoughts, good words & good deeds (which are not at odds in any way with my strong Christian faith but are in fact, complimentary & affirming) in the Southbank Piazza before ending the day with a leisurely lunch & Sake cocktails at San Kai Japanese.

For the occasion, I wore a gorgeous, Queensland-weather-appropriate flower & strawberry printed cotton, retro-inspired fit to flare dress from The Pretty Dress Company via That Shop in Carindale, tan leather mid-heeled mules from Wittner with a matching tan leather crossbody bag with chrome hardware from Elk The Label (a birthday present from last year), a thick silver hinged "wave" bangle from Precious Stones Jewellers & a thin silver hinged bangle from Oxfam (worn to my high school formal in 2001). My most important accessories of the day, however, were my "sun smart" faux tortoiseshell round-frame glasses from Sportsgirl (very John Lennon in his give-peace-a-chance phase) & a vintage straw cloche with embroidered raffia flowers from Amanda's amazing selection at the Ipswich Antique Centre.
