Fierce

These fierce suede wedges with zippered backs & lace up fronts certainly did double duty yesterday, edging up a bright watermelon crepe Anthea Crawford dress with side pleats & a 3-part structured neckline for both work & play...

Working in a creative field means that business meeting attire is often of a more fashion-forward variety than in most offices. Cue the aforementioned sky-high wedges for a clash of textures, adding a touch of grunge to a relatively corporate look, yet still keeping it appropriate for business. To soften the tone of the ensemble for day, a black patent handbag with a whimsical - almost twee - picture of a front yard complete with fluffy white pussycat was then added for contrast.

Completing the look are sculptural silver accessories in the form of a chunky hinged bangle & moulded ring, as well as a 1990s style choker - yes, they are back! - to tie in with the punk shoe choice. Scroll down for a close-up:

After a quick change of accessories, what was appropriate for a work meeting became a funky choice for late-night shopping with a friend...

Keeping the shoes the same - despite their eminently fierce look they are actually supremely comfortable - I changed the handbag from the twee painted mid-sized circular variety to a slightly larger, boxy cobalt patent option with an ombre, feather-printed chiffon scarf tied around one of the handles to soften the look. Furthermore, while my chunky silver hinged bangle & ring remained in place, the vaguely industrial choker was replaced by a statement silver necklace with a botanical theme. See below for a closer look at the sculpted flowers & moths that adorned the rather eclectic jewellery choice:
