In England, the term "rambler" commonly refers to those who walk/hike around the countryside for pleasure but some friends & I became the terrace-traversing, antique-admiring, Southern-Hemisphere-shopaholic equivalent on Thursday with a guided walk around eclectic Paddington.

This funky vintage dress from Hawaii was the perfect choice for such an adventure - the bright & happy print for day, sleeves to ward off the sun's harmful rays, a slightly nipped-in waist for shape & a groovy toggle for visual interest, shown in detail below:

Speaking of sun protection, I donned this straw cloche hat with black lace band for a fusion of form & function - enhancing the vintage feel of my ensemble while serving an important purpose.

Shoes I could walk in - all day long! - were a must & these bronze babies from Bare Traps @ Simona Ricci were the ideal mix of comfort & style with their low, stacked heel, cushioned in-sole & embellished t-bar strap. Better yet, they matched the colour of the dress' toggle, as well as one of the panels in the vintage patchwork clasp on the "carved nut" handbag from India that is a much-loved present from a dear friend.

When it came to accessories, mixing metals was the go with a brushed silver cuff & bangle - rather than bronze - as well as a chunky cuff covered with flowers fashioned from grey, white, yellow & bronze hued shells & pearl beads - the final statement piece to pull the entire summery look together.

Local shops & sights...
Paddington is an interesting mix of vintage emporiums, unique boutiques, avant garde hairdressers, friendly cafes serving delicious fare & a mix of historic & gentrified homes.
