Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I love musicals, particularly those based on musicians & bands with an interesting back story & catchy tunes that I've been spinning on the record player for donkey's years, so it won't come as a surprised that I was super excited to attend a recent performance of Jersey Boys: The Musical at QPAC with a dear friend. There's little wonder that this documentary-style, jukebox musical story of the formation, success & eventual breakup of 60s supergroup Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons is so popular (seen by over 25 million people worldwide) as in addition to standout performances from the main quartet, the songs - the majority more than 50 years old - still have soul; that toe-tapping goodness that stands the test of time.

For the occasion, I busted out a brand-spanking-new velvet polka-dot embossed mesh midi dress with asymmetrical tiered hemline from Australian label David Lawrence, worn with a thick black elastane slip from Taking Shape for modesty purposes; chunky black leather heeled lace-up booties from Jo Mercer to elongate my frame, a black suede roll-top shoulder bag from Portmans to carry all the essentials & a thick black resin hinged bangle with gold detailing from Samantha Wills for that touch of boho glam. Finally, I completed the look with a whimsical nod to the era by donning a pair of black resin cat-eye sunglasses from my local Sportsgirl store.
