There's nothing better than delicious sweet-yet-spicy creole food washed down with icy-cold alcoholic root beer on a cold winter's evening... especially when the experience is shared with family & friends. Creole Soul Kitchen in Brisbane's Spring Hill is one of my all-time favourite places to dine as the service, the banter, the fare & the ambiance never disappoints.

For this particular occasion, I donned a brand-new burgundy checked cotton midi dress with leg-of-mutton sleeves & satin racing stripes down the sides from New Zealand designer Trelise Cooper, black patent & matte leather ankle boots with buttons from Wittner, 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs warm, carried a deep purple/black embroidered velvet shoulder bag from Review with silver chain strap & perched a chunky beige/bone wool knitted beanie from Forever New on my head.

Scroll down for a peek at how the evening unfolded...
