Happily sharing pictures of what I wore to a delightful brunch at one of my all-time favourite haunts - Passiontree Velvet at the newly refurbished Indooroopilly Shoppingtown - to celebrate my parents' 36th wedding anniversary! I'm posing against the panoramic windows in a gorgeous "firework" floral twill fit-to-flare midi dress from Anthea Crawford, pattern-mixed small-scale floral printed vinyl handbag with gold hardware from Nine West, funky black leather lace-up flat sandals with feather (!) detailing from Novo (a Boxing Day Sales bargain at $10) & a delicate gold & enamel flower bangle that I was once gifted by a loved one returning from China.

Scroll down for a peek at the brunch...

On my way to more adventures... changing into a different pair of kicks in the car...
These absolutely amazing hand-painted babies are from a company called Carpe d'Art, where fine artists are commissioned to create works on high-top sneakers. Each one is unique, individual & signed by the artist, making them one-of-a-kind & really something special...

Finally sharing pictures of the wonderful New Year's weekend spent with some dear friends & their little munchkin! In an effort to escape the heat & encroaching storm, we headed to Chermside Shopping Centre to take advantage of the last of the Boxing Day sales & here I am, taking a break in the food court area wearing my all-time favourite floral glitter twill fit-to-flare dress from Anthea Crawford, comfortable yet stylish black leather peeptoe heeled sandals with silver buckles from Wittner, black leather & blue denim crossbody bag from Nine West to carry all the essentials & finally, a bohemian silver & semi-precious stone cuff from a store called Emte on James Street, Burleigh Heads that I purchased a few years ago.

Scroll down to see some snippets from the rest of the weekend... including when we ventured outside after the storms dissipated...

No more paparazzi, please!

Welcome to the Jungle

*

Dress: Anthea Crawford twill
Sandals: Wittner gold leather with gold buckles
Bag: Nine West vinyl with gold hardware
Bracelet: Dharma wood & beads

Just like my last post, I'm confusing you again with my movie mayhem! Here I am, posing IN THE JUNGLE (well, a cardboard cutout version of one) with the stars of the Jumanji sequel - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black & Karen Gillam - while on my way to see Pitch Perfect 3 with my mother & cousin... Crazy, right?! Timing is evidently not my forte.

But I digress.

In an effort to "beat the heat" as Queenslands are wont to say (pretty much every. single. day. during the summertime) I kept things simple yet effective with my new-found formula: a gorgeous large-scale floral printed twill fit-to-flare midi dress from Anthea Crawford mixed with a black leather Nine West shoulder bag covered in small-scale floral "tattoo style" figurals for optimum pattern-mixing, flat gold metallic leather gladiator sandals with a myriad of buckles from Wittner & finally, a bohemian style beaded bracelet with wooden clasp from a shop called Dharma that used to be at a shopping centre at The Tweed but has now unfortunately closed.

Just Like The Movies

*

Dress: Lee Mathews cotton
Sandals: Forever New leather with gold buckles
Bag: Colette by Colette Hayman vinyl with gold hardware
Brooch: Gift, gold & resin

Just a quick little post to brighten up your Thursday afternoon! Here I am, posing in a cardboard London phone box with some suspicious-looking cardboard characters from the movie Sherlock Gnomes... despite the fact that I was ACTUALLY lining up at the time to buy tickets to see Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with some dear friends & their darling boys... which was amazing, might I add. I remember going to the cinema to see the first film when I was only twelve years old & absolutely adoring it (& Robin Williams) so this was a strangely bittersweet experience that brought up both fond & wistful memories whilst making me laugh until my sides hurt.

But I digress.

I'm posing on the perhaps-not-strong-enough cardboard floor in a summery blue & white striped cotton smock with puff sleeves, waist tie & high/low hemline from Aussie label Lee Mathews, flat white & gold leather sandals from Forever New (not the most comfortable owing to lack of any kind of padding but stylish & good for the Queensland heat), white woven vinyl crossbody bag with oversized tassel from Colette by Colette Hayman (thanks for the Christmas present, Renee) & finally, a little brooch featuring my all-time favourite Disney Princess - Ariel from The Little Mermaid (thanks to Louis & Jennie as well).

Keep scrolling to see more hijinks from my companions!

Couldn't resist the lure of the selfie...

Only The Brave

Dress: Jayson Brunsdon Black Label twill with 3D embellishment

Bag: Alannah Hill leather with pewter clasp
Brooch: St Kilda Kilt Shop silver
Hinged Bangle: Wallace Bishop silver

Avid readers of this blog probably already know that I am fiercely proud of my Scottish ancestry, particularly the fact that I am descended from Highlanders who fought at the Battle of Culloden. Thus, bagpipe music has always been close to my heart & the opportunity to attend Scotland The Brave at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) was something not to be missed! To say that I was chuffed was an absolute understatement.

When it came to styling an ensemble, I decided to go with favourites both old & new, starting with this gorgeous black twill fit-to-flare midi length dress with 3D beaded embellishment from Jayson Brunsdon Black Label exclusive to Myer. Now, truth be told, I have had mixed feelings about this particular brand as the sizing is extremely hit & miss but this particular cut suits me to a tee... evidenced by the fact that I also own the same little number in a gorgeous shade of ink navy. When it came to accessories, it just had to be my stunning pair of heeled pewter leather mules from Zomp Shoes in James Street, Fortitude Valley for a little something different to plain silver & for that pop of colour, I added a duck-egg-blue retro style handbag with pewter clasp from Alannah Hill. Jewellery was simple, yet effective: a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for that touch of shine & a thistle wreath brooch from St Kilda, a little store in my hometown selling all things Celtic.
