Spent a wonderful few hours "tangled up in blue" at Mirandah's Baby Shower, where a group of close family & friends gathered to celebrate the forthcoming arrival of Baby Boy Orvad with craft, games, delicious nibbles & thoughtful gifts!

In keeping with the theme, I decided on this vintage blue spotted silk/crepe smock that was given to me by a dear friend's mother, who had it specially made for a trip to Brighton Beach in the 1960s. I think it works equally well on a wooden deck surrounded by lush bushland on a balmy Queensland summer afternoon, don't you? The sheer nature of the fabric required a slip & my usual white elastane number did the trick, creating a long, clean line underneath the smock, which I tied on one side to create draping for visual effect in addition to the faux tiered hemline. It was a special occasion, after all.

For some reason - possibly knowledge of the dress' true origins - my mind has this dress inextricably linked with ice-cream, so white accessories seemed to be the ideal option. White leather court shoes with a mid-heel were chosen, matched with a picnic-basket-style handbag with white handles & pastel ribbon detail in a nod to the seaside.

Whimsical gold jewellery was then added - chunky hinged bangle with a scene from Cinderella including a 3D pumpkin coach & fairytale castle, delicate hinged bangle with handpainted rose & diamante detail as well as a thin gold ring with a tiny diamond that was a gift for my Mother from my Father when they were both very young - a great deal younger than I am now in point of fact...

See below for close-ups:

Where yesterday's theme was bows, today's would surely be roses, with the ensemble's finishing touch a cute headband with stylised rose, the white satin "popping" against my brunette bob.

Scroll down for a gander (ha ha...see what I did there?!) at the baby gift & a peek at what my Mother wore as well as a mouth-watering glimpse of the cupcakes she made, complete with little blue plastic bears... YUM!

Hard at work on our pages for Mirandah & Blake's "Baby Book," the brainchild of craft-loving partygoer Katrina. Such a cute & thoughtful keepsake!

Getting started with the party games...
Anytime someone mentioned the Word of the Day - "Baby" - another partygoer was able to snatch their "pacifier necklace" away. The person with the most necklaces by the end of the party was the winner... Mum lost hers in the first minute!

Mummy-To-Be Mirandah & excited Big-Sister-To-Be Tobin putting their thinking caps on for The Baby Song Game, where participants had to name both the song & artist from a 30 second snippet of tune... Woohoo! I won!

The Ice Ice Baby Game where the first person whose ice cube melted - releasing the tiny plastic baby inside - won a prize! Mine took AGES to melt as I'd just refilled my drink at the punch bowl!

Well, all that's left to say is
Congratulations Mirandah & Blake
(as well as Big-Sisters-To-Be Tobin & Ivory)
on the upcoming arrival of your Little Man!
