Forties... and for once I'm not talking about the weather!
This stunning blue & white silhouetted floral silk/chiffon dress is from the War Years, yet still looks as vibrant & beautiful as the day it was lovingly handmade. It was a Christmas gift from a dear friend who knew how much I would treasure the unique history while breathing new life into the garment by updating it for 2015!

Initially intended to be worn over the demure foundation garments of the 1940s era, the garment is sheer, meaning that my trusty white TS slip was once again the hero of the day - adding coverage without the bulk & sitting low enough not to interfere with the sweet scalloped neckline, pictured in detail below:

Modern updates to this gorgeous "canvas" include a pair of white leather pointy-toed heels from Novo & matching white vinyl envelope clutch with silver studs & tassel detail from teen favourite Cosmetics Plus; sparkly silver, diamante & pearl belt from Forever New to cinch in the waistline, oversized floral headpiece with pearl strand strap from Lovisa (purchased for the princely sum of $7) & silver circular cuff with diamantes from Adorne, finished off with a petite silver watch with diamantes & blue face that was a birthday present from my good friend & shopping buddy Finn.

Scroll down to see these additions in all their glory...
